Atkins cured my changing vision problem

I can only assume that I was pre - T2 diabetic as I never went to the
doctor.  But the symptoms of this sweets addict were blurred vision
and changing vision thruout the day.  I went for glasses and the eye
doctor only looked puzzled when I told her about the vision changing
from morning to night.  What an idiot she was/is.

I self-diagnosed the problem to be related to blood sugar and
started the Atkins diet a year ago.  Within a few weeks I noticed that
my vision was stabilizing and credit the change to the Atkins diet.
Since then, the vision remains stable.  Thank you Dr Atkins.

Why don't you credit yourself?
You could have done Zone or South Beach and got the same results.
YOU decided to change, Dr. Atkins didn't do it for you.
You should still go to the Dr., but I'm sure you know that already.

if this is the case, then you need to see a doctor. preferably an endo
and an ophthalmologist.

too many people self diagnosing and running the risk of not treating a
serious condition properly.

More people are killed by doctors than criminals.

actually those would be criminal doctors who should never have been
given a license.  Many actually endorse snake oil scams and herbal
remedies.

This is perhaps the most ridiculous statement I've ever read in this
newsgroup...and that's really saying something!

one time when I was interested in web site hosting I found many
people in such newsgroups worked for web hosting companies.

spammers as we all know are very clever.  they come into groups
pretending to post on topic but have 1 agenda.
in this news group I have seen every kind of troll from
Aspartame to Viagra.  but I have never seen a low carb troll.
of all the news groups this should be one of the best places for such a
troll.
can it be they are already here? I am not pointing any fingers at anyone
but I do believe they post here from time to time - if not every day.
it only takes a few minutes a day to make a few posts. jmho

It is hard to separate a legit poster from a clever shill.  But
I am sure some of the hype marketers would not bypass
the chance.  However they are not perfect.  A doc shill
on TV made a fool of himself.  Seriously, I do not remember
any high hyped thing that amounted to anything.
If you are smart and want to get rich, it is the way
to go. We are bombarded with diets right now.
I net a skinny guy yesterday and I thought he came
from Mars.   The used to make people look
thinner on TV now I think they make them look
fatter.I am sick of diabetic ads and diet ads.
Experience says that the money people will
move to a new game when they run out of
suckers.  Diabetics must watch food input.
That is real but I don't need the concoctions
at inflated prices.,

Looks kind of shill-like, doesn't it? The lack of follow-up also adds to
that impression, IMO. However, I have read, in a.s.d.uk, that raised BG
levels result in extra glucose in the fluids in the eye, changing the
refractive index a little. I wouldn't have thought it could change
throughout a single day, but I don't know. I will say, though, that my
own eyesight has improved a little since I brought my own average BG
levels down. OTOH, that could also be due to ageing. Hard to say on a
sample of one, but it did happen rather suddenly, that is, the change
appeared to happen over the course of a few days - although it took me
much longer than that to get my BGs under control, it was towards the
end of that process that it happened.

Martin,

My own vision changes so intensely when I eat too many carbs that I will
suddenly find I can no longer read the signs on the highway with my usually
effective distance glasses.

Back when my blood sugars were not under control, I'd get a new prescription
for glasses after lunch and then find they didn't work the next morning.

My eye doctor said this is because the glucose changes the refactive index
of the fluid in your eye and to be sure to test blood sugar before getting a
new prescription to be sure it's near normal.

As quick as that? Well, thinking about it, maybe that explains a lot...

Martin,

The changes in my vision happen within a few hours of ingesting carbs.

This was yet another symptom that my doctors told me was caused by
"menopause" which was actually caused by blood sugar.
