Meter Software for competing companies?

Is there any software out there that allows you to upload multiple
Blood Glucose meters?  Currently I'm using the software that came with
my FreeStyle meter, however I received a free one touch Ultra 2 with
50 strips and started to test some with it.  It's pretty cool and I
may leave this meter at work.  But I would still like to be able to
have a report that shows the blood Sugars from both meter's.

Any Suggestions?

Wouldn't it be easier to type in the results by hand - once a day is
not big deal

That URL didn't work for me, I think because the underline extends on
space beyond the text.
This worked:  http://www.mycareteam.com/

Well, I managed to get there, and discovered it wasn't so much a piece
of software as it is a site you have to subscribe to and send them
your readings. Not at all what I expected (or wanted).

It did spur me on a bit though, and I made some more progress on a
format for the two types of meters I know how to read from the PC.

I have the Bayer Ascencia Contour monitor. Software is free, cable must be
purchased ($19?). You can download readings and chart every which way but
loose. Only downside is the test strips are at a premium price.

Are the strips any higher priced than the OneTouch or Freestyle? I'd
be interested in knowing the type of connector the Ascensia has. Is it
a phone-jack style?

Oleg Lego,

The contour cable is a serial port cable. It's a female end so if you have
a female port, you'll need an adapter. Maybe ask if they have a different
cable that will match your computer's serial port.

I haven't priced those brands of strips but with a lifetime supply of $5-
off coupons and free monitor and free batteries (1 every 3 or so years,
like a watch battery), it's a good deal. I also don't test as often as I
used to since I'm in the 90-120mg/dl target range 90 percent of the time.

You can google a diabetic supply to price compare strips. The Bayer contour
phone number is 1-800-348-8100. After a quick interview the monitor is
free. I got the Breeze with the rotating insert 10-strip disk but it was
too big and cumbersome, imho.

Here's the website if you want to read all about it...

http://www.bayerdiabetes.com/us/prodServ/products/contour/index.asp

It's a no-coding "heart shaped" meter. Not nearly as compact as the pen
style meters, when you have the kit on your belt. I don't carry a purse! :D

It's a matter of how anal you are about seeing your condition. The software
is very good and you can note foods you eat after a reading and the next
reading will help you judge what you ate that made you spike or go hypo.
It's not just a disease, it's a job if you want to make it one! :D I also
have diet software and I WISH I could have them both in one software!

I'm too tired to write that software myself. I don't even like entering
foods and readings much but charts and graphs are quite satisfying to
observe.

<off soapbox>

Best,

Andy
No interest/affiliation with Bayer, just a user of their product.

Thanks. Serial is no problem. I found out that the meter end of the
port is a 2.5 mm phone jack, so that's no problem either. It is likely
(though not certain) that it uses the same pinout as either the
Freestyle Freedom or the LifeScan OneTouch Ultra.

I just noticed the Contour in a Safeway flyer. They are selling 100
strips for $64.00 or so, and give out a free meter with a package of
100 strips. That's about 15 bucks cheaper than any other strips I've
seen (except those on eBay).

That's my eventual goal. It's going to take a while, though.

Thanks for the info.

I went to them with questions.  Yearly subscription is $124, but they
did offer a free year trial period.  They said they intend to add
space for food information.  Really, in retrospect, the OP looks like
spam

In amplification of the above statement, and as a newbie, on behalf of
my wife, I am now trying this free, post to the web program
https://www.best4diabetes.com/Servlet/redirect?go=forward&page=mainPatient.jsp

and the free trial of this $39.99  store data on your PC program,
which is also useable by Palm Pilot and the like:
http://www.diabetespilot.com/
Since one is putting in one's data by hand, neither system cares where
it came from.  Both systems.
Now I need a system that would extract the data so that my supplies
provider would get the data needed to susbstantiate the number of
readings/day for Medicare.  Oh well, I guess we can fill out that form
by hand.

Depending on how fluent you are with such things, you might want to
look at the "Export" functions on your software. The OneTouch will
export your data in .csv (comma-separated-values) format. The
Freestyle software will allow exporting in either XML or .TAB
(tab-separated-values) format.

While it's easy enough to change the commas to tabs, or the tabs to
commas, the various fields and the order of them are completely
different.

As well, the dates are represented differently and there are fields
which have no corresponding  fields in the other file.

The up side is that once you have a common format, you can definitely
make files that can be imported into a spreadsheet like Excel or
OpenOffice.org Calc.

I know how to read both the oneTouch and the Freestyle, and have some
rudimentary software written to investigate the two meters, but I'm
not sure when it will be ready for others to use. Meanwhile, I'm
willing to share the pinouts of the connector, the protocol to query
the meters, and the format of the responses, if that will help.
