We celebrated Mother's Day and my mom's birthday on Sat. Sat. night is when
I usually do up my pills for the week. But when I got home there was a
Snafu with Norton AV. Basically my subscription had run out but it took me
about 4 hours to get it all straightened out, and that was with my brother's
help! Had I not been able to reach him, I would still be clueless on the
matter.
Went to bed and forgot to do up my pills for the week. Not a problem
because Angela was all willing to help me seeing as how it was Mother's Day
and all. Not only did she get my breakfast and lunch (we went out for
dinner), but she helped me do up my pills for the week. Normally that takes
me about an hour but it only took about 20 minutes with her helping me.
Now this morning when the alarm rang, Angela complained of stomach pains. I
assumed she had the same virus I had last week. Guess I'll never know for
sure. She did feel feverish and looked bad but had an amazing recovery mere
hours later. At any rate, between calling her in sick for school and
listening to her screaming, "I'm gonna PUKE!", I failed to take my morning
pills. A fact I did not discover until dinner time. So that would explain
why my BG was oddly higher than it has been.
BG is still not down to what it should be. I don't know why but it seems
each time I up my insulin dose, I get one or maybe two good readings, making
me think I have the right dose. But then it shoots up higher. Much higher.
It's almost as if my body is rejecting the insulin or something. I shall
increase the Lantus by 8 more units tonight and see how it goes. *sigh*
And it looks like I am going to have to get yet another date book. I have
one I am using to record my insulin dose and to mark off that I have taken
the shot. Guess I am going to have to get one for my pills as well. I
don't know what else will remind me to take them. I have a sticky note on
my computer and that isn't helping.

Sorry to hear you are having such a bad week. I don't really have
anything to add, just wanted you to know that someone out there cares
and that I am pulling for you.

Same here. I couldn't think of anything constructive to
help.

I know. I just felt like venting. At least today seems somewhat better.

I've read things that suggests that may be exactly what's happening.
Or that your beta cells turn your own production way down. In the long
term, that's presumably protective - once you've got the right dose
worked out. Assuming your post-meal readings are then OK too...
Good for Angela for helping you to sort your pills out!

Yeah. She used to do them for me when she was a toddler. But she hasn't
wanted to since.
