Ha1c results are in.
I'm happy to report my ha1c was 5.8%.
Thyroid function was normal.
Aside from getting cut off on the freeway at 70mph, zig-zag skidding across
two lanes of traffic and nearly rolling my car, it's a good day. I reflected
on life the rest of the way. It can and usually does turn on a dime.
Best,
Andy

Well, for future reference, after you stomp on the brake and twist the
steering wheel, you have to remember to TAKE YOUR FOOT OFF THE BRAKE while
trying to recover, is how. Things happen TOO FAST at 70mph!
[WHEW!!!]

Andy

Cheri,
It sure was! I drove on, after recovery, thinking "did that actually just
happen???" moments after. It was a micro-second reaction. [shivers] I
patted my VW dashboard for helping me save my life.
I was also surprised with my blood exam numbers.
Thanks and best,
Andy

Yes Maam! ;)
I'm still so shocked about today's event.
Even hours later I'm still all shook up.

It's very important to reduce the amount of emergency avoidance twitch
you give to your steering wheel as your speed increases. By the
*square* of your speed. So at 70mph (70x70=4900) you can overturn your
car with only 1/5th of the steering wheel twitch you need at 30mph
(30x30=900).
Apparently not many people know that :-)
Why don't they teach children that kind of useful stuff in school?

Chris,
Thanks for the science and numbers. Now I know what to blame! :D
I did manage to get into town with the stop&go rush hour crowd this
morning, in the rain.

No good - you gotta practice it! I'm currently being beaten by the
kids on their SuperMario game on the Wii - several years before the
youngest is getting anywhere near a real road.

Ozgirl,
There is no such thing as a near miss, from my experience.
It's an all or none event.
YMMV.
