I think diabetes is just popular

Johnnie McCoy - 06 May 2008 23:22 GMT I am offered things, almost daily, that I shouldn't eat. If I say I'm diabetic, its, "Oh yeah, I am too" ( or my brother, mom, sister, uncle, etc.). Still none of them seem to be doing anything about it. I think diabetes is just popular.

What annoys me more, is when those offering me such foods are family. My daughter-who-did-a-semester-of-medicine-and-thinks-she-knows-everything says I'm overdoing it.....

Maybe sometimes we do overdo it a hair...haha... but that's a hell of a lot better than doing nothing. Mostly I hear, "Oh, I've stopped eating so much sugar." and that's it.

Mostly I hear, "Oh, I've stopped eating so much > sugar." and that's it. oh god. Last Christmas my b/f's sister said to me that she knew diabetics who ate brown rice all the time, as if I needed to have some. All the food was starchy, every bit of it - columbian style tamales, white rice, and bread. real healthy!
I bring my own food in a lunch pail now, and I was prepared.

An interesting observation. One seldom hears of brothers, moms, sisters uncles who have made incredible changes in their life styles. There could be several reasons. Maybe they are less common or maybe they are less visible.

It remains smarter to go for the cure by choosing to eat less, down to the right amount:
