I was at our local Osco Drug store and found they have One Touch Ultra
2 test meters on sale.  So I got a $69.99 meter for $19.99.  It looks
really nice, lots of bells and whistles. And, while it doesn't give a
three month average glucose level, it give a thirty day average.  So
that helps.

I'm not sure where Osco is located around the planet, seems to be
centered in the US Mid-West.  Also they are connected with
Albertson's, so they may be across the US in one form or another.

On a related subject:  I appreciate the replies to my test meter post.
Some good answers to my question.  So, Thank You, All!

Good Numbers!

Normally, you can find a meter for less than that. I think the most I've
paid in three years is about $10 - for an Ascensia Contour. And it came
with rebate coupons on the test strips that more than paid for the meter.

The only meter I ever paid for was the Ames meter.
I paid a high price for it.   Since then I look for freebies.
ON several occasions I have called and requested a free
meter to evaluate.  I am rarely refused.

But you do pay in strip costs.

Ted Rosenberg has provided good info in the past
on sources on several diabetic items.

Like all medical items the markups are gross.   Take
any advantage you can.

for a while the Contour people were trying
to get the One Touch market and had good deals.

Now, insurance provides partial payment but
do understand that in the end you pay the whole
bill in some form.  Insurance is never free.
