Since I didn't get up 'til 1 PM today, I skipped breakfast. 5 PM FBG 46. Uh
oh! Had a bowl of corned beef & cabbage and a dozen Ritz crackers with
peanut butter. One hour post prandial BG 64. Uh oh! Ate an apple. Two hour
post prandial, one hour post apple BG 106. I didn't feel any different at
46 than I did at 106.

I have had plenty of hypos that I didn't feel.  Those around me could tell
though because apparently I was acting strangely.  Next time when you have
one you need to eat some straight carbs, sit it out for about 15 minutes,
then test again and eat more if necessary or eat your next meal if it is
time for that.

Heh heh! Apparently, I always act strange! We always have rice here. Thanks
for reminding me, Julie.

Take care.

Not good.  It is during a hypoglycemic episode that a diabetic is more
likely going to have a cardiovascular event.

The simply shows that your brain absolutely need normal levels of
blood glucose to function optimally.

Actually, folks having hypoglycemic episodes while on medications that
lower their blood glucose need instructions from their physician(s) on
either lowering or stopping these medications to prevent future
episodes.

It remains smarter to resume eating less, down to the right amount
once these glucose-lowering medications are reduced:

I would question your meter
at 46, you should have barely been functioning.  If I was that low, I
would have trouble seeing at all.

Every time I have gotten a reading under 55, I have rechecked 3 times on
the meter and found that the other readings were higher.

Then I called the manufacturer and got a replacement meter and strips
shipped to me.

when I fumbled so badly I couldn't take a reading, or the light seemed
to have dimmed that I couldn't read it THEN I was probably around 50.

I take soda, ice cream or candy to bring it up fast when it was that
low. Your choices would not raise your bg for at least a half hour,
while you were dangerously low and possibly still falling.

Hypos can kill, and side effects of hypos can kill.  Do not worry about
going too high under those circumstances.

The crackers were not a bad choice, but, other than glucose tabs,  best
would have been a cold Pepsi, second would have been orange juice, third
ice cream, forth marshmallow or caramel candy

Excellent idea. Thanks.

Good ideas, indeed. I like Colas and OJ. This morning FBG was 86. Had a
kielbasa and cheese two egg omelet on a slice of buttered toast. One hour
post prandial was 107.
