Hi ain't been here in a long while for one reason or another.
But have been on Humulin-I (NPH) and Humalog for a long while now,
longest time I've been on the same insulins anyway.
I did try Actos for a short while but put on too much weight and
couldn't sleep on it at all.
I am due to get my latest hba1c result on the phone tomorrow (my gp
is off today) but am stressing as have had one infection after the other
and have been on double my normal steroid tablet dose for months now.
Have also had a nasty stomach bug for 7 days and sugars been out of control
and are even more out of control after I manage to keep food down.
I am having to use syringes for my jabs due to the doseage size and am
hating
them with a passion but I am reaching the point that one syringe wont do my
individual doses soon as I have 1ml syringes they do 100units a dose.
I am phobic of needles/syringes so double dosing isnt ideal but doe anyone
know
if its possible to get bigger syringes with suitable needles in the uk ??
I was told by lead DSN when she converted my regime that 1mls were the
biggest specific
insulin syringes but could we get bigger syringes and put a suitable needle
on ??
I am kinda doing okay but not okay by other peoples standards but it seems I
am doomed to insulin alone regime as pills just dont suit me.
My TDD is stupidly high but its what my sugars deem needed - I hate it but
sugars luv it !!
Hope people keeping okay.

Donna, are you being handled by your GP or the endo? Round here,
complicated cases like yours are firmly up at the hospital clinic,
where there's a really good endo team.
Not that I have any clue about whether your DSN is right or not, just
that things clearly aren't going too well for you... I hope that your
recent illnesses have gone away, and that your A1c isn't too bad as a
result!

Hi Donna. It is good to hear from you, but not that you are having so many
problems. Hope you get them all straightened out soon.

I have an endo, lead DSN + DSN, and GP's looking after as well as a full
team for my chest problems lol
I am greedy ya see I like to have them all lol
The humulin-I and humalog are the best thing I've taken in the 16 mths I
been diagnosed - the only thing that keeps me level normally !!
Well sickness bug is dying down now !!
Just got my bloods back too and I had nought to worry about:
Hba1c 5.1 - down from 5.7
Fasting glucose 7.1 - down from 8 someat
Cholesterol 5.3, Ldl 3, Hdl 1.6, Tri 1.5, Chol ratio 3.3% - down from 6.9
and ratio is alot better with dietary changes alone
Ferrous 5.8 - up and steady but still need iron supplements
Renal function OK - no change

Just remember that the A1c broadly shows your cardiovascular risks; pp
spikes go to the microvascular issues like retinopathy and neuropathy.

Whoops, missed this as it's popped up in an earlier thread with the
same title
Impressive numbers, so at least some of your problems are well under
control. Perhaps you should take your medical team a low carb snack as
a thank you? <G>
