Byetta cloudy, then clear

The last time I opened a new Byetta pen from my refrigerator, the
liquid was cloudy, as was the liquid in the next pen I opened.
However, after half an hour at room temperature, both pens contained
clear liquid. We contacted the manufacturer, who had us return the
pens and sent coupons for free replacements, but I'm sure they won't
if it happens again.  Has anyone else had such an experience? Would
the Byetta actually have been safe?

I don't take byetta, but it sounds like it might have been frozen or close
to it,
and that might make it unusable.  Insulin, once frozen, would also be
unusable.

hansteis, I am on byetta and have never had that issue,  maybe there was
a defect in it, or perhaps your refrigerator is set on a very cold
setting and that is why the byetta clouded up,  It may have just been
too cold.  jmo

I wouldn't have used it either since it might have had reduced effectiveness
after near freezing.  One thing to watch is that the temperature between the
door of the fridge and being in the back of the fridge may vary quite a bit.
Several people found that storing in the door was safer.

The next time you are in the housewares department look for a small
thermometer, they make some specifically for fridges.  Put that in the
fridge in various locations and see whats going on.  Its a LOT cheaper than
guessing whats happening and ending up eating a new $225 Byetta pen out of
your own pocket.
