I'm still at home, no hospital yet.  There is an update on my blog. with
some whys and wherefores.  I'll be hanging back around here later, but
really do have some pressing engagements that I need to tend to while I am
feeling good.  Ohhhh.... don't that sound just great to say "feeling good?"
This is why I want to do all I can to prevent the monster headache with the
treatment.

Hugs

Take those for my MG and multiple connective tissue disease.  Not a
headache person normally.  Lollipops are better than oxy.

KROM, I think we have us a little thing going here trying to get you
diagnosed.

How long has they been working on you?  How much of my blog have you read?

I have some good neuromuscular sites that I've not posted, but can approach
this in my blog.  This is the purpose of it, is to get people to know about
these horrible, incurable, rare diseases.

It has been sooooo hard to talk publicly about my stuff, and especially the
negative stuff.  I'm thinking about hitting the treatment area today, and
what we've done so far.  Hoping to get some of my fellow myasthenics to
reading, and responding.

I take B-12 shots.  Michelle mentioned magnesium I think it was, but it is
contraindicated for MG.  Many antibiotics are also no-nos for me.  I have to
carry an emergency card with me at all times.

This has been concurrent with my diabetes all along, so I cannot say it has
specifically affected it in any way.  Been a chronic pain person for a long
time, but we never knew the full scope of it until a few years ago.

I also take vitamin d.  Have to take something for anemia.  hahaha  This
disease really does try to kill the body, hence the origin of the name, and
why the "gravis."  I'm in the process of trying to save my body.....
Literally, and NOW!

Keep talking to me buddy.  Know so much how you feel.  I might be slow in
responding, but I'm listening.  Best way is to leave a message on my blog.

OK. The reason I asked is that your leg symptoms (like a lactose burn
from intense exercise) is exactly the way my wife described her
symptoms when on Lipitor. The doc switched her to Crestor and the
problem went away.

Whenever you do not feel up to par, and especially when it's an all the time
thing, it is not *silly* to complain.  Do you realize how many years I went
before they finally caught up with me?  And it was my ophthalmologist at
that!  My doctor had me labeled at everything from drug seeker (though he
knew I wasn't), to hypochondriac (knew I wasn't this, too, because I
responded to treatment), and withheld pain medication on me some times, and
I would be writhing in pain here at home, or abed because I was in such pain
I couldn't get up to go an place.  Then there was the mysterious extreme
fatigue beneath all of that that could not be explained too.  Having had
only two other MG patients in his lifetime of practice, MG was not one of
the first disease to pop into his mind, though in hind sight, he said it was
all there, almost textbook.  (I'd never heard of the disease so I couldn't
have been making it all up ;) I didn't exactly go from doc to doc, but the
docs I did have never could treat me effectively except for one, and it is
possible he might have been on the right track; he is the one who saw that I
needed the immunosuppresant, and gave me prednisone, and enough pain
medication to help the effectiveness of my was of living.  I showed up at
his office one day with all major joints grotesquely swollen, painful, and
what all else I cannot remember now.  He made me comfortable with decadron
and vicodin, and set me up with an appointment with the rheumatologist.
Forget what the rheum did, but he helped me a lot, then he moved away.
:(   That was my problem.  My doctors kept moving away on me.  LOL  Then I
found the pcp I have now, and he was interested in autoimmune cases, and WOW
did he ever get one in me.

I would never try to guess what you might be dealing with because those
symptoms fall into several catagories that even I know about, so there must
be many more.  ;-)  Stay diligent; don't give up, and don't let the docs
wear you down.  My doc said they do a lot of the stupid things they do
because they are stupid and don't know what they are doing, and don't want
anyone to know it.  My pain specialist said this about autoimmune diseases
and docs when I asked him a question about them.

Hang in buddy

Oh, KROM, you're so funny.  You make me laugh.  Yep, just keep optimistic,
and as Nicky said, it might be nothing, but then again, it just might, and
you would want to catch it early.

Now KROM.  Think about it.  What all am I going to do all day long, lying in
this bed?  Most I can walk is to the bathroom, and it is hard to make the
return journey.  So, yes, I do post daily.... so far.  ;-)

Myasthenia Gravis is a rare, incurable, neuromuscular disease, that if not
under control can be fatal, hence the *gravis* in the name.  It's a grave
disease.  Few people know anything about it, including doctors.  Most never
see a case in their lifetime of practice.  I decided to go public with my
trek reaching for remission so that people can learn a little bit about the
disease, and how it affects people.  It is hard to talk about the negative
things because I've always kept that stuff to myself.  But to show a true
picture of what is going on, I must tell the bad with the good.  I am also
doing it for my doctors to see what goes on with me, as we reach for a
treatment plan for me.   So far, nothing has worked.

Once you read someone's blog, and get caught up, it is easy to read them
daily.  I have just a few that I read daily.  Alan does not update his that
often, I don't think.  Mine is meant to be.as it is a checking point for my
friends and family to check on us.  Cindy posts to hers daily.  I have found
some very interesting people because of reading other people's blogs.  Some
of it makes my world seem very, very small.

Almost 40???? I thought you were older than that!!  LOL My kids are 38, 40,
& 43

Hang in there!

How does vitamin D apply to pain.

Theres others but this was my first easy grab.

Lucky for me my my nurologist mentioned that pain and weakness can be linked
to vite d defficency.
I took it and saw a big difference..besides my lack of going outside and
spendign all day in flourescent lighting im black which also is a higher
risk group for it.

Those sorry issues aside, vitamin D in milk has proven lactose intolerant
for me in the past year.

Metamucil has helped digestion while trying to have breakfast cheerios and
non-fat milk.

I take 4 metamucil + calcium every other day and I find that a comfortable
solution. For the cholesterol benefit.

Best,

Andy

The dips at the ER I was at Sunday prescribed Phenegran suppositories for
nausea. I just looked the nurse, and said "You're f*cking kidding right?"
LOL

THAT door has a "Do Not Enter" sing on it...lol

Given the choice there, I'd rather hurl...;)

Seriously however, because I was addicted to Morphine, and other painkillers
for so long, I no longer have any problems with nausea unless I am already
sick when it is given. A good thing, but the way it was achieved sucks...:(

I have the same stuff. If I do more than 20 mins on the drums nowadays, I
feel like I've played all night. Granted my music is a bit faster than most
(see Disturbed, Atreyu, Static-X, et al), but I'm not THAT old yet. Even
playing bass gets my forearms worn out. Like you I am trying to track that
stuff down myself. Spent about 6 hours in the ER Sunday. Again getting well
is killing me...hehehe

Legs had been swollen about double, got THAT down, but now there are a light
red from about mid-shin down, burning like they are in an acid bath, and get
sharp pains like someone is taking a chainsaw to different parts of my legs
and feet. Injections of morphine AND dilaudid barely took the edge off
enough for them to be able to do an ultrasound to check for DVT in my legs.
Basically according to sources when you bring the BG's down the pain will
oft times get worse before it gets better...:(

Been looking into fibromyalagia lately. You might take a look.

My wife has fibromyalgia as does her mother..i dont think thats my issue but
im open to all possibilities.

My leg pain is right outter thigh only as if i have been shot...the nuro
says theres a nerv bundle there under the skin that can missfire in some
people causing just those symptoms of pain..nothing can be done about it..if
thats what it is.

My muscle wierdness is for example standing at the sink my entire body feels
like i worked out a hour and forces me to sit down.

If i hold a cup of coffee for a minute it feels like i did 100 curls with 50
pound dumbells.

The vite d helped alot but not enough...i wanna fig it out ..kick its arse
and move on to better things..lol.

That's how I feel about my medical probs ...

I like to grumble about them from time to time; but I'lm sure as ...
it that I don't have the unbearale problems that most of you here have.

And for the most part, you are all stoic about it.
So, what the heck .. I take my meds, I read almost all the posts here
and TRY to understand what is going on.

He, he, he ... wifey likes to tease me about the time in 2004 when
I broke my wrist in a mushroom hunt we did together.

I was driving for three days afterwards, saying "It's OK, just a little pain
..."
before I would accept seeing my Dr about it...
That is still a far cry from some of the sufferances in here.

Hats off to you all !

<gags at the thought of mushrooms>

Can't do the shrooms. Textural thing with me, as is Tofu. Mom, eats them out
of the bin. Don't know how she does it. I'd be retching before I could
swallow...:/

Don't you, though.  And, minimal pain relief drugs?  Today is patch change
day.
