Since the United States is facing a recession then the recent increase
in violent gun crimes could be drawn as a correlation which would
indicate the need for increased gun control and possible a ban on
certain kinds of guns. I think that we need to completely do away
with handguns since they can be concealed, what possible reason could
a person who obeys the law want with a concealed handgun? People who
obey the law aren't trained like police, so it makes sense to get rid
of the handguns so that no one hurts themselves trying to be a hero
because a criminal enters the scene. It's the police's job to take
care of criminals so lets leave the vigilante stuff to the comic
books.
Also, semi-automatic rifles don't really have any use in hunting so
there is little reason to keep those around since every time you hear
about them in the news is when someone has gone crazy and used one
that they have militarized with pistol grips and huge magazines to
kill hundreds of people.
People should be looked at too, people who have had mental problems or
depression don't need to have guns, people who have been charged with
crimes should not have guns, at least not until they are proven
innocent. This is about saving lives and we must all do our part.
Probably the worst argument I hear from the pro-gun lobby is that it
is a god given right to bear arms. There is no god, so there is no
inherent right. People need to understand that the American
forefathers didn't intend for them to have guns unless they are in the
army, thus the "well-regulated militia." Ask any atheist about the
god argument, they will tell you, you cant use god in a U.S. court as
an argument because there isn't one.
I know this is an emotional topic, I'm not trying to get people angry,
these are just ideas that need to discussed. Besides, the people who
get angry over words are the ones who need to be kept away from guns.
I don't want someone close to me getting angry and having quick access
to an illegal gun, I don't want to die and my family doesn't want to
die either. Guns just don't make us safe they make life dangerous and
people don't need that especially these days.

If you would take better care of yourself, get some help for your
mental problems, you might be able to buy an actual gun someday and
throw away all that hardware.
