A tough time of the year...

ajh - 22 Dec 2007 17:55 GMT My first Christmas since Dx. A lot of temptations. I am doing pretty good so far, but it can get you down a bit. Even worse, however, is dealing with a bad winter cold. I am just getting over a wicked one. I used to eat comfort foods and treats that made me feel a little better and every single one of those are spikers.
As the weeks go by this becomes more and more normal.
Seasons greetings to everyone. Even though I post little, I read a lot.

This time of year, I enjoy bulk nuts in the shell.

The spicy Suan le Chao Shou [sic?] soup from Mary Chung's restaurant, in Cambridge, Mass., was very comforting ever since my college days. And it cleared your sinuses!

Ya know, it might be textures rather than tastes that you think of as comfort foods... I now use mashed cauli, or swede and carrot mash, where I used to use mashed potatoes.
But a taste or two of old favourites is not going to hurt...
and there are lots of low-carb treats out there too! Start with mulled wine for the cold? :P

Andrew B. Chung, MD/PhD - 24 Dec 2007 11:26 GMT Not tough for those of us who no longer suffer from the powerful delusion described in 2 Thessalonians 2:9-11 which arises from believing the lie that hunger is bad.

Definition of delusion: A false belief strongly held in spite of invalidating evidence, especially as a symptom of mental illness, an idiosyncratic belief or thought pattern not shared by the general population.
Chung is a perfect example of a delusional person. He lies and twists words to fit his fantasy world. He misinterprets bible passages. His fixation on Christianity is a manifestation of his mental illness. 2 Thessalonians 2:9-11 is not about food, yet Chung claims it is because it fits his own fantasy structured beliefs. He lies about his clinical experience and "empirical" evidence for his 2 lb diet. He lies about the biblical measure of an omer. He lies about having $2 million dollars or having sold the domain name of emorycardiology.com for 1 million dollars. He lies about having a publicist or having an actual office. He thinks the Holy Spirit dictates to him. He claims to not sin.
Perhaps in his twisted thought structure he believes he is telling the truth. That is because he is delusional as per the above definition. He is mentally ill and will soon lose his Georgia Medical License. His lies have caught up with him.
Chung suffers from delusions, rigidity and mental illness. His intelligence has slowly deteriorated. He is now only capable of rote, reflex responses. He is concrete and not able to grasp abstractions. All of these traits are signs of mental illness. His ideas of reference and grandiosity are classic psychotic signs too. He is not capable of hoax or parody. He is an ego-syntonic regressed. narcissictic, psychotic paranoid schizophrenic. His convict list and belief in Satan and febile attempts to "rebuke satan" and his narcissistic belief in special, personal direct -to-Andrew-only messages from the Holy Spirit all are consistent with that diagnosis. He is a sick, impotent, mean-spirited little man.
He has come to the attention of authorities that have the power to do something about his medical license.

May everyone else have a blessedly wonderful Christmas...

Hunger is wonderful :-)
It's how we know what GOD wants, which is what is good.
Yes, hunger is our knowledge of good versus evil that Adam and Eve paid for with their and our immortal lives.
Be hungry... be healthy... be hungrier... be blessed:

What I thought was just a minor staph infection actually turned out to be a badly abscessed tooth. I get to spend Christmas with a swollen face, gulping down antibiotics, and in so much pain I'm shaking. But, I hope everyone else's holiday is better than mine.

Mine certainly was. You sound terrible.

They put me on the anti-biotic that I told them to use to begin with. The swelling is almost gone, pain is now manageable, and can semi eat. This is exactly what I mean when I tell people that diabetics know their bodies, and what works and what doesn't. Just wish the docs and stuff would start listening.

For my last sinus infection I had to go to a walk-in medical centre as opposed to my regular doctor. I told him I was allergic to penicillin, Bactrim and their cousins. He said well, ya know, penicillin really is the best drug for sinus. I said well, penicillin really will kill me next time I have it... Despite this he "reluctantly" wrote a script for double strength Klacid, which worked brilliantly.

I can't take ANYTHING with -cillin in the name. The one and only time they tried it I wound intubated, and almost died. Out of all the the AB's I have used on me me, Erythromycin works the best. Which is what I told them in the first place. I should know better than to trust doctors implicitly. They had me addicted to morphine for three years, and I tell ya, I would not wish withdrawals on my worst enemy. Next time I will insist, and if they give me any lip about it, I will look until I find a doc that WILL listen.

I get to spend Christmas : with a swollen face, gulping down antibiotics, and in so much pain I'm : shaking. But, I hope everyone else's holiday is better than mine. Sorry to hear that. I hope the antibiotics reach the abscess and reduce the pain very soon. that really is the pits!

You have to look on the bright side, take good care of each other, and hopefully you and Lynn have many, many more Christmases together. Happy New Year, and I'm glad you're better. :-)

I recall having teething probs myself and I used to place an aspirine on, or as near as possible, to the inflamed area. Don't recall if it was effective or not ...

They had me on Vicodin 7.5's and it wasn't touching it. But what it boiled down to was them putting me on the RIGHT anti-biotic.
