Almonds, Avocados, Beans, Chocolate, Onions, and sometimes Cinnamon
get a pretty good play on ASD largely for the reasons mentioned in the
article.

Grapes and Oats get mixed bag reports from ASD participants.
I have a couple of red grape vines in my backyard and froze a bunch of
them that I put in my cereal in the morning.  I also added a unit of R
insulin inorder to add the grapes. "Grapes contain heart protective
qualities in both the flesh and the skin. Phytochemicals, such as
resveratrol, caffeic acid, caftaric acid and coutaric acid, can be found
in abundance in both white and red grape varieties. Drinking Concord
grape juice can raise good cholesterol and slow down the oxidation of
more harmful LDL cholesterol in the arteries." Some time back there was
a mixture of grape juice, vinegar, and honey that had some commercial
success. Generally this concoction would be OK for a nondiabetic and
possibilly a pre-diabetic, but this is a YMMV thing.

Some people can manage old fashion oat meal, but others try steel cut
oats.  I did not have success with blood glucose control with either
one.  The amount of oat meal and the way it is prepared can change the
blood glucose response as well.

Oat bran provides much of the benefits of oats for those who can't
manage oats.

I make a cereal of almond meal, flaxmeal, wheat germ, oat bran, milk
isolate protein powder, lecithin and cinnamon (1/2 lb of first five
ingredients, 1/4 lb of last two).  A 3/4 cup serving (which I mix with
hot water and doctor with stevia and cream) has 28g carb, of which 13
are fiber, so a net of 15.
