Frozen vs. fresh veggies?

I've read "buy in season fruits/veggies" but that could cut out some favorite
fruits/veggies.

Is buying frozen such a bad idea? They're flash frozen in season.

Your thoughts?

Frozen produce never tastes as good as fresh.

But we're getting to the time of year where that's the main choice for
many things.  I prefer to use them in soups and stews and such.

I buy some frozen.  Mainly I buy fresh or canned.  Daughter LOVES canned
green beans.  They were one of her first foods and they're the only
vegetable she will gladly eat at each meal.  She also likes wax beans.  And
black olives.  To her, black olives are a food group.  As opposed to any
other form of olive which she considers non-foods.

I am lucky in that I get an organic produce box delivery every week.  During
this time of year there are a lot of things in there that we won't eat.
Like yams and winter squash.  I can usually substitute them for things we
will eat.  If not, then I just won't get the box that week.

With colder weather we are eating more heated things like soups and
casseroles.  So if I add canned or frozen vegetables I figure it doesn't
matter too much nutrition-wise.  I really believe most fruits and vegetables
are best for you when eaten raw.  I also believe there are some exceptions.
So right now we kind of have a mix of cooked and fresh.

if it weren't for frozen veggies, we would be reduced to next to nothing
for all the good 'free veggies' in the winter time

frozen veggies are fine........ buy in season means you are getting the
best fresh veggies at a good price to boot

I think I read this in our local paper this last Sunday, that in some cases
flash frozen is better than some fresh veggies, because when veggies are
flash frozen they are ripe where as allot of veggies and fruits are picked
and shipped before they are ripe. I hate to get pears at the grocer they are
always hard and partially green. I remember as a child picking ripe pears
off of my Aunts tree they tasted so much better:)

I love frozen veggies now as they are as fresh or in my cold state fresher
then i could get at the produce isle.
Often for a quick breakfast while im still half asleep is ill put olive oil
into a pan and some frozen brocoli and heat through and beat a few eggs and
pour over that...if im more awake and feeling fancy i will add cheese or
sausages.

in the fridge :-)

And I read in this morning's paper that if we eat raw broccoli or raw
cabbage 3 times a week it will lessen our chances of getting colon cancer.
Anybody want to bet someone will tell us next week that they're poison?

I had a fry-up tonight. I don't recommend it every day, just
as a treat, maybe once a month.

I made a light, thin simple beer batter. I prepared one
small (75gm) fillet of fish in four strips, some chicken
strips for SWMBO, five broccoli florettes with long stalks
attached, half an onion in thick separated rings, and a spud
with the jacket on sliced in thick chips (my ration was
six). I dredged all but the chips in flour and shook them
well to remove any excess.

Using peanut oil I half-cooked the chips, then using the
beer batter I deep-fried tempura-style the broccoli
florettes, onion rings, and fish in sequence and drained
them all on kitchen paper. Then I cooked the chips
second-time-round and drained them well.

I added tomato from under the griller and some microwaved
spinach and served.

An hour later: 6.3(113).

Broccoli, tempura style, can taste wonderful:-)

I'm afraid I don't like frozen spinach much, but I finished
my serve. Much prefer fresh or home-frozen silverbeet.

Cheers, Alan, T2, Australia.

I despise frozen and canned spinach and much prefer it raw or stir fried or
in soup.

I ate my normal brocoli with eggs and cheese and sausages tonight and my bg
plummeted to 56 from 86...sigh..silly diabetese..one day im elevated all day
and another super low all day no matter what i eat...altho the good part is
i got nible a few chili corn chips during the low and it too didnt move me
up at all..ive been under 70 all day.

As long as you feel hungrier after eating them, it is right for you to
eat them.

You might suggest they eat their veggies raw. Just the way
the Lord made them. This should slow the nutrient release
from the veggies and help keep intake down.

And I'll suggest you switch your main title from MD/PhD
to the Prophet and Apostle of your LORD.
Are you see visions yet? Or are you hearing the voice

Not if that makes them less hungry.

So children who are sent to bed without supper for misbehaving and are
therefore hungry are being rewarded for their misbehavior.

The Lord certainly does work in mysterious ways.

Not if the children are angry at their parents for disciplining them.

In their anger, they would no longer be hungry.

The loss of hunger indicates that LORD Almighty GOD is no longer
blessing them because they are no longer honoring their parents as HE
commands.

Not to the discerning.

Bottom line:

You do not have a discerning heart, satan.

In the awesome holy name of LORD Jesus Christ, I publicly rebuke you
again before and ever-growing and cheering cloud of witnesses here and

The Lord is being woefully misrepresented.

So, if being less hungry is good, is starving to death holy?
