I've managed to keep my A!C below 6.0 since my diagnosis 4 1/2 years
ago. The lab test came back 5.2 yesterday. If I can maintain these
numbers,is it possible to escape the worst complications? Thanks.

I feel there is more to good health then A1C and the numbers you see on your
meter.
doing real cardio  or building up to it is very important.
building muscle is important.
not sitting in front of your computer or TV for hours at a time is not
healthy.

congrats on your A1C's

I'm no doc, but I think so. That is what Bernstein says in "Diabetes
Solution". At the least, it will certainly delay any complications.

BTW - Congratulations!! - my last was also 5.2 - I'm shooting to try and
get below 5.

Very admirable!
I hope i can make the same claim in 4 years as well!
I am certain it is making a big difference and even if it isnt yet...
prevention is the best cure and all that.

We can surely hope so. The converse has to be true - that you would
increase your chance of complications by running high bg numbers. Life
being a lottery, of course, there's no guarantees either way...

And congratulations!

It's only one indicator among others such as lipids and
cardiovascular symptoms - but a darned important one.
Congratulations on that result - tell us what you did to
achieve it, we are always ready to learn from success.

Do you know your lipids (cholesterol) numbers too?

Cheers, Alan, T2, Australia.

Congrats on the good numbers and the consistency!  Did you make any
lifestyle changes 4-1/2 years ago?  Do you feel better now than at the
time of diagnosis?  What meds, if any, are you on to achieve such
numbers?  Whatever you are doing seems to be working for you.
