I love that short piece by Puccini. It's instantly recognizable even to
most of us average folk. Another such recognizable and much loved piece
is Nessun Dorma.
By the way, there's a young man from Whales who won Britain's "American
Idol" but got into the semi finals singing Nessun Dorma and bringing
down the house. His name is Paul Potts and his Youtube selection is
worth seeing for the emotional depth he brings to his performance. He
doesn't have Pavarotti's control, but he's got that certain something.
If you do a Google search on him, you'll find that the impression left
by the Youtube video about Potts' amateur status isn't entirely correct.

Hi Enrico,
Nessun Dorma is one of my favorites, also... I agree, that Paul Potts
is something indeed.... A very fine rising star!
Thanks for sharing.

I like the pieces you suggest Will. I went on to Maria Callas and
particularly enjoyed the Casta Diva Slide Show. Her life was more tragic
than any of the operas. The Tosca video is superb - great acting!

Hi Lorna,
Thanks.... For me, music is one of the chief joys of living, and sometimes
when I am listening to a particularly great piece of music, I just have to
share my pleasure and enthusiasm....
Yes, Maria Callas is immortal.... I agree. It does seem that she experienced
great sadness in her life.
