I just got a new minimed pump last Saturday and my nurse has already
adjusted it once
already but my readings are still averging over 200.  I had so many lows
before
getting the pump that she is keeping it high for awhile (I guess).  I want
to move my A1c
from 7.2 to 6.0.

it could have been what you ate, some foods like pizza for example
gave a delayed impact on BG due to the fat content.

or it could be due to gastroparesis, the slow emptying of the stomach
as a result of autonomic nerve damage.  You'll have to see a doctor to
determine if this is the cause and the proper course of managing it.

Mack. When they gave us samples of gluten free pizza at a celiac support
group meeting
I found that you don't need much to put you off the charts.  Now that I have
a pump
and have learned to count carbs I learned that, all the chocolate I used for
lows, had fat
which didn't help all the highs and lows I've had over the years. I use
glucose tabs now.

Why did you chose a Deltec CoZmore pump?  I will go join >

to learn more about pumps.  I know that I need to get Pam to adjust my
insulin to get
my readings out the 200+ range on Monday.  She has adjusted it once already
since I
got it last Saturday.  That is the day she installs them.  She's a busy ANP
nurse that
really knows diabetes.

Well that's a major change in the recipe.  regular dough to gluten
free.  But this still hasn't addressed your original question has it?

>Why did you chose a Deltec CoZmore pump?

I started with Minimed.  Before they merged with the company that owns
them now.  The pump itself was okay.  worked just as it was programmed
too.  But after the merger support went down hill.  And I started
getting double billed for supplies.  I stopped pumping for a while
because of some problems I was having.  Not mention the major one of
learning to adjust to either humalog or novolog after so many years of
using Regular.

When I went back to pumping I started asking other pumpers about how
the other pump companies were treating them.  I liked Deltec's growing
good reputation.  And I liked some of  the features of the Deltec
pump.  Now "features" alone should not be a selling point.  As of
today the major change is getting a CGMS to work correctly so that it
can be integrated into the pump.  Even though my Deltec model has no
CGMS I still like the meter being attached directly to the pump and
sending it's readings directly to the pump to be used in it's bolus
wizard.

go to the how to section and print it all out and read it and go over
it with Pam.  It's information that's available in other sources but
you don't have to buy any books to get to it this way.

when it comes to questions about pumping that list has both individual
pumpers like you and I, and professionals like endos and CDEs and pump
trainers.
