As a result of the things I learned in this news froup, I purchased last
night one of those high percentage gourmet dark chocolate bars.
Lindt has one with 85% cocoa. $1.99 for 3.5 oz.
8 carbs per four (big) squares, 20 for the whole bar.
Ate some this morning, and within minutes experienced a euphoric high.
Oddly the first taste wasn't that great, and I really love dark chocolate.
Soon, I was craving it like crazy, but I've stopped at four squares. Nice
to know I've at least learned to stop. Normally I'd have eaten the whole
thing without even thinking about it, not that 20 carbs would be horrible
for me but...
I could live off this stuff.

I always buy dark chocolate. Since candy isnt my thing, I can have two
squares a day without any problems with my blood sugar. And we now know
that dark chocolate is very healthy for you
we dont have to be deprived just because we are diabetics. we just have
to know how much we can eat of something.

FWIW - I like Baker's Semi-Sweet chocolate. One half square is about 7
grams carb.

I love that stuff.
I like to just hold a square in my mouth while I'm drinking coffee and
let it dissolve...

I fell in love with the Lindt 85%. Always having suffered from headaches, I
marvelled how I could eat dark chocolate without it causing headaches. Over
the years more and more foods have contributed to my headaches, and as of
last year, most unfortunately, dark chocolate became part of them. I can now
tolerate one square a week, hardly enough to satisfy my craving.

Every time I go to the store I walk by the stuff but have never bought one.
Next time I will.
