I wonder if taking a fiber supplement tablet with a large glass of water
about 30 minutes before bed would help with fbgs?

There is only one way to find out:-)
Actually, I do something vaguely similar which does seem to
help me. I have a small bowl of muesli/nuts/psyllium with
milk before bed. Psyllium is probably the prime ingredient
in a fibre supplement tablet.

Probably not - I take two every night. Only thing I've found so far that
seems to help much is taking my last metformin of the day about 3 am.

I tried all sorts of things to lower my astronomically high fbg, high
despite having normal weight, a low carb diet and doing lots of exercise.
Nothing worked. Eventually I found an endo who put me on Insulin. Now, 20
units of Lantus each evening, kills my high fbg. It also reduced my HbA1c
from about 6.7 to 5.8
