Researchers are doing a study, using dietary supplements, DHA, to see
if given during pregnancy and/or early childhood could help in
delaying or preventing type 1 diabetes in individuals who may have a
higher risk of developing type 1 diabetes. DHA is a natural ingredient
found in a mother's breast milk and in various foods. This study will
gather information to find out if a larger study should be done to see
if DHA can prevent type 1 diabetes and how to do a larger study.
Pregnant mothers in their 3rd trimester (more than 24 weeks), and
babies up to five months old may be eligible if the baby has a
relative (mother, father, sibling or half-sibling) with type 1
diabetes. Study involves up to 11 visits to the Joslin Diabetes Center
over a 3-year period. Compensation is available for each study visit
completed.

I do like well done studies. Joslin has an excellent reputation.
The DCCT studies did a lot to dispel the misconceptions on
the complication front. Old opinions. some published, claimed
that insulin caused complications. Dozens of other good
sounding tales floating around.
Some day, some where some verified answer will
emerge.
