Will, T2 - 26 Feb 2007 13:23 GMT Hello group,
Have any of you ever paused to reflect how our moods affect us in what we think, say, and do?.... Not only in our daily lives, but I mean also even here, on asd. Also, it is well known that how we feel in terms of mood is affected by a lot of things, including how much sleep we are getting, how much stress we are under, the current state of our health, especially as to what levels of pain we may be experiencing. Also a key factor, it seems, is how our metabolism is working from moment to moment, and what interactions are happening as to our meds, etc.
As I sat here over the last day, or two, I saw more than a few posts that led me to take note of the possible moods of some of our posters.... It was truly amazing to look at things from that perspective. Between the lines, I saw humor, pain, depression, sickness, robust jollity, and everything in between... For those who were posting from a place of pain and ill health, I truly hope for your good health and pain free living in the days to come. For those who were angry and depressed, I hope you find relief and good feeling.... For those who expressed good humor and a jolly disposition, thanks for the smiles and good spirits....
For you all, I wish you a very happy and healthy week.

I have to agree with Quentin about something he observed a few days ago... You are a very positive contributor to this group, and I admire the way you always try to create harmony, where often there is none.... You are at the heart and soul of this group, I think, in the way you try to bring people together, no matter how "bad" and "angry" some of disagreements have been. Of course, there are a number of others I would put in that category, including Quentin, Loretta, and many others too numerous to name.
You are a very great lady, Cheri. Thanks for being you, and thanks for being here.

Cheri - 26 Feb 2007 17:22 GMT TY Will. I think the same of you, and many, many others as well, especially the people that have helped me greatly with their information and smiles. :-)

Will, T2 - 26 Feb 2007 23:39 GMT > Even when I am moody, tired and get major PMS? : Uh, Jan.... That was part of my point in writing about moods.....
I think it is important for us all to remember that everyone here has moody days, good days and bad, and simply days when we are not feeling at our best. It's is those bad days that make it all to easy to post and write things that we might wish later we had not posted. I know that was the case with me last Fall....
The important thing is that many of us really connect as people.... That is what makes this such a great community, and why it is important to be here.
Thank you for being here, Jan, even when you are moody, tired, and that other thing... .

Syd must be the luckiest man alive to have such a loving and supportive wife as you, and still be able to do some of the things he enjoys, despite his medical condition.... The other people in that recorder ensemble are pretty lucky, too!

I try to put on a positive outlook all the time, despite my often dismal outlook on life. I feel if I have made someone happy, then I have achieved something priceless. It's no use being a grump, and bringing others down to your level of dejection - you lose friends that way.
Your kind words are priceless, and I hope you too enjoy a happy and long life. I hope all who regularly post here can share equal happiness.

Thanks for your post... Yes, moods are so basic to our experience of life that we are often totally unconscious of them, and yet they affect everything we perceive, and all of our thoughts and actions are influenced by them. I have learned at times, on those occasions when I can get past my own moods, to realize that when people communicate or act in what may seem as an inappropriate or surprising way, it is often because of a bad mood, frequently brought on by pain, ill health, stress, over-work, family tragedy, or a number of things in combination... At times like that, if we can find it in ourselves, it seems better to take the high-road and work for healing.
I am sure you- positive philosophy makes an important difference to those around you... You sound like a wonderful person.

Sadly, my wife and kids will probably disagree. My moods are probably more appaent to them than they are to me.
Funny about moods - being in a bad mood can set off a bad chain of events, such as when you're in the service industry. Let's say you've had a bad night; you don't sound courteous enough to a customer; this customer gets in a bad mood himself, and takes it out on the next person he talks to; this person, in turn, gets mad at the next person in line - do you get the drift?
Anyway, I wish I could rationalise like that myself when I feel lousy.
Have a good day.

There's a TV commercial in the US now that uses this to tout its product - one method of Business Broadband connection over another. I don't know how the products compare, but the ad is dead-on.

Will, T2 - 27 Feb 2007 20:20 GMT > My moods are probably more > appaent to them than they are to me. Hi Henry,
You make a couple of important points,... I have found that many times we are completely unconscious of our own moods, with the result that while we think we are reacting completely reasonably, others around us may have a completely different impression. And, yes, those moods may result in completely off-the-mark communications, sometimes. Then, later, in a more balanced mood, the we may may be shocked, or even embarrassed and ashamed, at a stupid remark or action thoughtlessly taken, whilst under the influence of a "mood".... And thus, our passing moods can have far reaching and unintended consequences, and all the more so, if those whom we affect by our statements and deeds are accustomed to relying upon us for level-headed and sound reasoning and conduct..... Such is the burden of living responsibly, it seems.
Still, there has to be a time and place for humor and levity, and a way to lighten up, so to speak. Without the healing grace of humor and laughter, life would soon grow bleak, indeed ... I guess the trick is in learning mindfulness.
Maybe a good place to start with mindfulness, is by trying to be sensitive to the feelings of others, especially when we know they be looking to us for wisdom and good sense. Then choosing ways of peace and harmony seems to help a lot, too.... Moods often pass, but as you hinted in your earlier post, damage to relationshps is not always so easily overcome.
I very much like your name, by the way... My son's name is Henry.
I wish you a truly blessed life and all good things in the days to come....
