Unfortunately, time is of the essence when treating diabetic
retinopathy. Even if these experiments in mice show promise, clinical
applications in humans are years away. Someone facing retinopathy now
or in the near future would be well advised to go with the current
laser treatment, rather than wait in the forlorn hope that a "repair
treatment" might soon be found.
