Requesting help about syringes

Right now I'm in a money crunch and I'm wondering if you can use the
same syringe more than twice? I usually use my lancets for about a
week, then I change to a new one. But I've been discarding my
insulin syringes about using them twice. I take two different
insulins and I can combine them into one syringe so I'm using
atleast two every two days. Since I'm the only one injecting myself
I'm hoping that I could extend the usage to one syringe per week.
Any advice would help me alot.

thanks

The cheapest place to get U100 syringes is walmart - 100 31 gage for
about $13.  I reuse each syringe ten times.  the 31 gage syringes do
not leave bruises on the tenth use.  Ask Mack or OldAl about using the
same syringe for different insulins since they are much more
knowledgeable about it.  Cheapest place to get your sticks is ebay.

You use one syringe continuously until a insulin vial is empty?  Are
you nuts or something?  If you used 30u each time, that would mean the
syringe would be use about 33 times.  Explain how the syringe needle
remains sharp after that much use?  Even using it 10 times, the tenth
use is noticeable.  After 30 times, it has to leave bruises since the
needle is so dull.  Everything has limits.

I've yet to find the limits of a syringe though. I even use a pen needle for
two pen cartridges coz I can't be arsed changing needles.

I use my syringes for days, and my lancets for months.

However, I don't have to mix insulins in one syringe, and I'm not so
sure that's a good idea to keep re-using them if you're mixing.

However, do you *have* to mix them?   If you keep one syringe for
each kind, and just take two shots -- one with each kind of insulin
-- then the syringes are staying "unmixed" which might be safer for
lots of reuse.

However, someone with more knowledge of the perils of mixing should
talk to you about this!

I use the same syringe until I've worn off the writing and I'm reduced to
guessing what dose I'll get:-) And I don't pay for my syringes, so it's not
a money thing, just me being a lazy get.

Current advice in the diabetic clinic is DON'T use a syringe more than once,
(and the show a picture of a needle to hammer the point home, and that
needle WOULD need a hammer to get it's point through), but I still do.
