Darned if I can see that Beav. There's far more sat fat -
and carbs -in a full English breakfast.
The Olive Oil is a good oil; thyme is a lovely herb, I have
the bacon for at least half my breakfasts (overcooked and
crisp, drained on paper), mushrooms are wonder food, there
shouldn't be a lot of sat fat in the burger if it's
reasonably lean meat, onions and garlic are also wonder
food.
Sounds excellent to me. And the dip and salad are even
better. Your only danger of a heart attack as a type 1 may
be not adjusting your insulin down because there's not many
carbs in there apart from the honey and balsamic (but I'm
sure RK adjusted:-)
With all that bacon I've eaten since, I'm still waiting to
have that heart attack they were worried about back at
diagnosis.

not a flame or anything but i wonder how much different
your cholesterol would be if you were not taking any cholesterol lowering
medications.
I have nothing against bacon i have it every once and a while.
I do grill just about all my meats and for those meats like skinless chicken
breast i treat myself and saute it after i grill it with some onions and hot
peppers.

The nearest I come to a heart attack is the laughter attack
I just suffered. Thanks so much Tom.
How's the web-site coming along?

MY full English brekkies are grilled and poached, not fried.

And boy do they soak up the oil. All the above foods would be better grilled
is what I'm saying.

I'm sure she did too.

Same here, but fried food is NEVER going to be healthy food, not matter how
much you like it, or which oil it's fried in.

Can't see it, Beav. Looks pretty heart healthy to me, given the use of
olive oil. It could be improved a bit by making sure the burger was
made with non-grain fed outdoors grazing beef, and the pig too was not
fed on a high grain diet, because eating lot of grains has as bad an
effect on their lipid profiles as it does on ours, which is a
consideration if we're then going to eat them :-)
In fact I do a pretty similar breakfast sometimes myself, using
venison burgers, but because it's breakfast I avoid the carby onions,
using instead just a couple of spring onions, and beause I'm lazy I
fry the whole lot up in one pan.
I've had a couple of heart attacks, along with bad lipids, high blood
pressure, frequent angina, and frequent episodes of heart arrythmia
and fatigue. That was back in my fool's paradise days when I was
delighted that my doc was telling me I wasn't diabetic "yet". I was
put on various meds which improved my blood test figures but not how
my heart felt.
After discovering I had diabetes and heading in a low carb direction I
dumped the heart medication because I had discovered bad side effects.
How my heart feels and behaves has been improving steadily ever
since, as has the amount of cardiovascular exercise I can do without
distress.
It's clear that in my case the worst things for my heart were those BG
heavy hitters the white starches, plus trans-fats, and my carrying
around decidedly inelegant amounts of visceral adipose tissue, all
compounded by a high-stress sedentary lifestyle.
