Anybody taking Miglitol?
Any major side effects? Other than
stomach upset.

Acarbose can cause liver problems?
Anything similiar with Miglitol?

Why is it not more commonly prescribed?

Acarbose and Miglitol inhibit the digestion of carb.   Some of the carb
tends to ferment in the stomach.    Both "squash" blood sugar peaks but you
pay with bloating and intestinal gas.    Some folks find it terribly
distressing;  others don't.   I used it for a few years.   Didn't notice
unacceptable bloating and didn't mind the intestinal gas.   But I worked in
a chemical plant so it was easier to deal with then most folks might find.
YMMV
