Co-ingestion of a protein hydrolysate and amino acid mixture with
carbohydrate improves plasma glucose disposal in patients with type 2
diabetes -
http://www.ajcn.org/cgi/content/full/82/1/76

A newer abstract from the same research group -
http://jn.nutrition.org/cgi/content/abstract/136/5/1294
"... co-ingestion of a protein hydrolysate with or without additional
free leucine strongly augments the insulin response after ingestion of a
single bolus of carbohydrate, thereby significantly reducing
postprandial blood glucose excursions in patients with long-standing
Type 2 diabetes."

Effect of whey on blood glucose and insulin responses to composite
breakfast and lunch meals in type 2 diabetic subjects -

Further information is often available in articles citing with links to
at the end of the originating article.

This is as significant as taking a prescription med for
diabetes. The  insulin response is very good. It's very
interesting, the difference between the response at breakfast
and the response at lunch and the shape of the curves.

I have some whey powder sweetened with Stevia so I'm going to
experiment with one of my meals that drives my bG through the
roof; I know it well. I will add the whey and see what happens.

I found some soy protein powder in the bulk section of my
grocery store. I will test that also.
