How about a plate of hot dogs and sauerkraut. No carbs. Some olives and a
pickel. No carbs. and for desert, sugerfree strawberry jello topped with
Cool Whip Free, only 3 carbs. If this don't fill you up, nothing will.
Just use low fat hotdogs. And watch that sauerkraut. The good kind is
fermented in oak barrels and has only 180 mg of sodium. The bad kind is
made with salt brine and has 890 mg of sodium.

Hi Nog,
That's a coincidence! I'm still trying to figure out what I
can and can't have to eat. Tonight I ended up with a plate
full of hot dogs and sauerkraut (the wife opted out). It
surprised the hell out of me that there were no carbs! She
wouldn't believe me, she didn't want any, but had to check
the labels. So far breakfast is my favorite meal, but I
should really ease up on omlets.
Cheers, Wizzzer

Most of the hot dogs I've seen have some carbs. Sauerkraut, olives, pickles
and even sugar free gelatin all have carbs, although not a lot of them.
There is nothing in that meal I would eat, except perhaps the gelatin and
only if there was nothing else available. Cool whip is nothing but
transfats and chemicals. Hot dogs are loaded with nitrates and other things
not so good for you. Might work for your BG but otherwise not good for you.
My favorite meal would be something Mexican or Americanized Mexican. Like a
huge tossed salad topped with some beans or lentil sprouts and spicy, fresh
pico de gallo. Or bean tacos with low carb whole wheat tortillas. When my
daughter and I go out, we split a big tossed salad, an order of pico de
gallo, a side of refried beans and an order of beef fajitas. We often take
about 1/2 of the fajitas home at that! Depends on where we go. There are a
few restaurants that serve a nice small lunch. But the plate where we often
go for dinner seems to keep giving us more and more food. We almost always
have to take some home.

Beans are loaded with carbs and so is wheat.

I'm not certain that nitrates have been definitively proven to be harmful,
though you may be right about the "other things".

You should really watch hotdogs... Some have carb fillers in them. You
have to read the labels, just as with any processed food.
Hebrew National brand has no carb fillers.

I usually do quite nicely with two WASA fiber wafers, margarine and
cheddar cheese for lunch - quite tasty. I groove on a good Polish Sausage!

There is very little about most commercial hot dogs that is worthy of
the title of "fit for human consumption" let alone can pass for
nutrition. If you ever saw one being made, or knew what they put in
them, you would never eat another hot dog. They basically use
everything but the moo and oink.
Best,
Kurt

So, don't animals in the wild eat those other parts?

You betcha...and that's why whenever I see a racoon rummaging through
my trash I toss him a hot dog!

So you don't like stomach and other parts, right?

No. Nor do I like toes, eyeballs, snouts, synthetic nitrates,
nitrites, and phosphates. But the raccoons sure seem to!

So, which of those things you don't like do you feel are bad for you?

Sauerkraut as some carbs, though not many....most hot dogs do too, don't
they...unless they are pure beef...
Some olives

You don't really mean no carbs, just low carbs, right?
:: Just use low fat hotdogs.
Why? Fat tastes good and fills you up.
And watch that sauerkraut.
