Can you use a cheaper store brand strip for a name brand meter?

Dean AndroTT:
Usually, no. You can't. Apparently there is one less expensive strip
that is usable in the Home Diagnostics "Prestige" meter. Home
Diagnostics makes most of the "generic/'store brand" meters, so you can
find "Walgreen's" Prestige or TrueTrack strips on sale that'll fit the
"Long's" or "CVS" Prestige or TrueTrack meter you might have. That's
it. TrueTrack strips won't fit an AccuCheck or OneTouch.

Don't know if this helps, but I hope it answers your question.

NO!

You can't even use the strips for one model of name brand meter in
another model of the same brand.

Buy the meter whose strips you can afford, and you'll be okay. I second
the suggestion to use the TrueTrack or Relion if money is an issue.
