bantista - 29 Apr 2006 02:53 GMT Hello, ASD and especially all who have been so supportive and giving of your friendship,
Just got my latest blood work results today; I thought I might share them with the world; not because I'm so important in the grand scheme of things, but because some of you might be interested.
Previous test on 10-12-05 Choleterol 185, HDL 73, LDL 91 Triglycerides 103 Throide Profile/TSH 1.200 Glycohemoglobin (A1c) 5.9
This test on 04-22-06 Cholesterol 197, HDL 92, LDL 86 Triglycerides 94 Thyroide Profile/TSH 0.999 Glycohemoglobin (A1c) 5.6
So, as I understand things, blood is going in the right direction generally, though there is still some work to be done.
But I know others here know more about these things than I do, and I would be interested in your insights.
regards,

You will probably outlive us all!
Congratulations! I know that is the result of some very hard work.

bantista - 29 Apr 2006 03:59 GMT > Overall, Rudy, I would say those are OUTSTANDING results.... > [quoted text clipped - 3 lines] > > Will, T2 Hello, Will,
Yes, my friend, it is. Constant vigilance, though maybe, needs to be more constant.
But I just hope to live through the day every day. I have these two chronic conditions, T2 and COPD, which are each regarded as the equivalent of one heart attack and which have each killed many people this year and every year. Before I got sick, my goal was 120 years; now, I'll be pleased to live through any given day, month, or year.
I have a good life. I don't have the best health anymore, but I don't have it as tough as others. And I can still manage with a better diet and some walking about. I'm still poor, but I might struggle back up into the lower middle class, and that would be good. I might not be destitute in old age if I make it that far, so that's a big plus, and everyone doesn't have that. The best thing is, of course, that I have people that love me close by and an extended family that wants to hear from me from time to time. Sweet deal.
But I don't expect to outlive anybody, and I sincerely hope all of us here never do pass on. Or at least are content and satisfied to do so, when that day should come. I know my world is benefitted by many of the posters here, and I wish them continued good health, happiness, and the love of their families. They certainly have my appreciation and respect, and certainly, you, Will, are one of those good guys, a champion of the people as many here are, and a wise advisor in troubled times.
Be well and happy in your life.
Best regards,
rudy bantista@thuntek.net

Good to hear from you. I hope your bg program is going well.
My doctor says the LDL should be less than 70, and mine is still above that. I need to do some work to bring it into line. I'm not real sure what kind of work though. I expect I need to eat more salads than I have in the last month or so, but I don't really know.
Thanks for your encouraging words.

Anil - 29 Apr 2006 10:48 GMT Rudy,
Those number to my untrained mine look awosome! Even the trend looks good. And yes it is hard work to be on top of this all. What is never clear is are we lucky when we feel we are in control or is it the strict lifstyle change we have embrassed. What ever it is, keep up it buddy!
>> I thought I might share them with the world; >> not because I'm so important in the grand scheme of things, >> but because some of you might be interested. Dear Rudy,
Don't worry, in grand scheme things, every thing we see around us will eventually enter the black whole state. It's always a motivating to see that some one can have a YOY (Year over Year) better results. I will take that to bank any day!

>> The best thing is, of course, that I have people that love me close by and >> an extended family that wants to hear from me from time to time. >> Sweet deal. My great grand mother died at age 95. She became widow at age 23. She suffered a lot. At age 30 she moved in with her daughter. At that time she moved in with property no belongings. Ever since then she never managed to collect any property. But she had the whole village loving her. They never stopped giving her love until she died. She is the richest person I know of who died in biggest wealth of human love. She has become the model for many in my family to aspire to.
Looks like you have similar deal going for you. Rejoice!

So good to hear from you. That's an inpiring story about your great grandmother. Some people are wealthy in things that matter that are not material things.
I do rejoice and I try to remember when my day is not going as well as one might wish that I have the human support of people that care about me as I care about them and their wellbeing. In spite of illness and the travails of life, I know I have much for which to be greatful and satisfied and happy, and I usually am.
Thank you for sharing.

What are you eating besides tamales?

Good to hear from you. Hope your day goes well.
I usually have a cracker, oat or rye, for breakfast with peanut butter and strawberries or blueberries; later for lunch a peanut butter and strawberry sandwich on whole wheat or multigrain bread, and I snack on carrots, peanut butter crackers, soy bar, mixed nuts, and string cheese throughout the day.
Dinners are much more varried and might be almost anything. We do eat a lot of red chile sauce which is ground red peppers toasted in a small amount of vegetable oil, a medium dark roux, and a little mashed garlic and salt boiled for five minutes and simmered for 15. We also eat pinto beans and onion and cheddar cheese with that often. Maybe a few tortilla chips, not many because of the carbs in the beans. And we have enchiladas often, corn tortillas toasted in vegetable oil until just turning soft and bubbly and covered with onion and cheese and red chile sauce, stacked flat with minced black olives on the top layer and a ring of chopped romain lettuce and diced tomato.
Usually, we eat wild salmon filets with salsa at least weekly. Also, small steak and small baked potatoe with some vegetable, spinich, green beans, or a salad, usually every week. When I can get them I eat almonds or walnuts everyday, but sometimes they get too pricy. I try to eat a salad every week, romain, spinich, tomatoe, onion, mashed garlic and salt, sunflower nuts, crouton, parmesian cheese, and lots of ground black pepper, which is a pretty good meal and I use olive oil and balsamic vinegar dressing. Toasted walnuts are great in that when I have them on hand.
On the weekends we often have tuna salad sandwiches at lunch with mayo, chopped green olives, romain, and celery on whole wheat or multigrain bead. Sometimes we make spagetti if we have a low carb noodle. And I will eat a couple very small pieces of garlic bread with it sometimes. That's pretty risky though, since white flour bread races into ones blood. Sometimes we make garlic bread with whole wheat toast and that seems to be OK, no worries. Once in a while I have pastrami rueban, can't spell today, sandwich with mustard on a white bread roll, that is usually pretty safe with a little walking about afterwards. The roll is about 19 grams of carb for a six inch roll, so I get a 12 inch sandwich and have the other half for dinner.
I do need to eat more salads than I have in the last month or so, and I enjoy them when I take the time to do it.
Thanks for asking.
