Hi to all my Diabetic pals,
A question ...
I was on Atacan for my BP (which was out of control) It didn't agree
with me, headaches, nausea etc. GP now has me on Tritace (Ramipril)
starting at 2.5 mg working up to 10 mg over 4 weeks.
I feel SO much better. No more lower back pain, just more energy. BUT -
I have this dry cough. It comes on usually in the late afternoon. Not a
real problem. The plus+ facor of this drug is worth the side effect (if
that's what it is?)
Anyone else experienced this ? - or is it all in my mind ?
Mike.

Ramipril is an "ACE". A dry cough is one of the side effects**. I
fought it for a year before I switched to an ARB (e.g. Atacan)
(**Another side effect is "somehow" offering moderate protection to beta
cells endangered by T2)
ACE and ARB have several good effects on diabetics. It's in your best
interest to look for an ACE or ARB which doesn't produce distressing side
effects.

A dry cough is a common side-effect of Ramipril, and other ACE
inhibitors. Most people find it eases after a while.
It has other benefits too, including protecting your kidneys.

A "dry cough" is a common side-effect for this and several other ACE
inhibitors.
I got started on Altace a year ago and only slightly noticed the cough
for a couple of weeks before it went away. I don't think it goes away
for everybody.
