Low Carb Beer

Hi All

Mainly for the Aussies.

I was out last night for dinner at a Chinese restaurant in
the local club at Cabarita Beach. I noticed a beer being
promoted as low-carb, called "Pure Blonde". This a blurb
from it's release a couple of years back:
http://www.realbeer.com.au/alefiles/local_news/article_2004_10_4_2408.php

I gave it a try, instead of my usual drop of red.

It was OK, I suppose - it was wet, honey-coloured and fizzy
and it's a full-strength beer at 4.6% alcohol - but I tend
to agree with the less-than-complimentary thoughts of most
of the tasters here:

If I was drinking it for taste - I'd choose Guinness or
Tooheys Old instead. But, on a hot summer's day it could be
good at only 3.6gms carb per stubiby compared to 12-15 for
standard beers:

I ate a reasonably light meal (about half a serve of
Mongolian Lamb and a dim sim) drank one stubby, popped my
dinner 500mg metformin when I got home and tested 5.9(106)
at 1hrpp.

Cheers, Alan, T2, Australia.

G'day Alan, I'm also an Aussie --- and I think Pure Blonde is a great
beer Quite honestly, my preferred drop is a nice Chardy or a good red -
but if it's beer for T2's - Pure Blonde hits the spot (low carb) . Good
stuff.

Glad you liked it; I'll keep it in mind for summer
afternoons. However, like you, my preferred drop is wine.

Use your meter next time you have a glass or two. I think
you'll find there are benefits for red over white.

I was reminded by a message from a friend today of the
benefits of red wine. Time to re-post something on that.

Cheers, Alan, T2, Australia.

I hate the taste of all beer. Not much of a wine drinker, altho
when I lived in Italy for 3 years we drank a local wine all the
time. Could see the winery from our apartment. I have always been
a Rum drinker, but now it is very, very rare that I have any at
all.
