So I saw my doctor this week and my A1C is 8.1 which is not very good.
He gave me 6 more weeks to try to lower my weight and blood sugar
levels or else he will have to increase the dose of insulin I take. OK
I need to lose weight fast I want to at least lose 10 pounds by May 7,
2006, any ideas??? I do not want to increase my insulin at all

Diana, great to see you posting. I wish you success with the weight
loss, but the only idea I really have, is to cut calories and excercise.
I know it's not easy for you to excercise, so cutting the calories and
eating healthy is the best way to go IMO. Best to you.

Consult with your doctor.
With his O.K. walk and exercise...a lot.
Lower your carb and calorie intake.
Except for the cost, what's the problem with increasing the amount of
insulin you take?

Diana, how much insulin are you on now? Basal and bolus? IIRC, you are *exercise limited*,
too, like I am.......... correct? It is soooo hard for us who cannot get any
exercise........... walking to the bathroom is all I am up for in a day unless it is to go to
doctors' appointments.

It sure is nice to see you posting again girlfriend.
Any ideas?
Well, nothing new.. Are you anymore able to walk then you were? They
claim if we get ourselves a pedometer and then work toward taking at
least 10,000 steps per day. I know how daunting that sounds, but the
diabetes educator from Bayer that was our guest speaker at our January
diabetes support group meeting claimed that most of us already come a
lot closer to that goal then we think we do.
He was supposed to leave complimentary pedometers for our members with
the diabetes education center before our February meeting.
Unfortunately the people there were gone when we got to the meeting
room next to the center the last two months
Our usual leader is back from building houses all winter in Texas and
she knows how to get ahold of them so she can get them for us.
Other than getting more exercise the only thing I can think of off
handed is to really work on portion control in order to eat less and
to eat more low carb healthy foods.
I'm getting my blood draw this Friday and will meet with the doctor on
the tenth. Since I have had times when I was very steady with
excellent readings and other times when I have been on a roller
coaster I have no idea what to expect. I do want to talk to him about
making an adjustment to my meds. Sunday night I got up to go to the
bathroom two hours after going to bed and realized I was very shakey.
Checked my BG and I was clear down to 50. We had eaten small servings
of watermelon less than an hour before bed, so we didn't have our
normal bedtime snack. Huge mistake!
Let us know how you do Sis.
Take care and be well.

Cheri for some reason I dont think this is our Diana, This one has the
year 1971 in her address and methinks that is the year this one was born
in.
Also, there wasnt any particular friendliness to that post and she has
not responded yet.
