I am having a problem with drowsiness after lunch and dinner. It does
not s em to matter what I eat, I feel like it is 2:am and I wnat to go
to bed. I am not depressed and have fine energy the rest of the day
but really droop after meals. I eat a fruit at the 3 to 4 natural low
blood sugar time of day so I have that one under control but need help
on lunch and dinner tiredness. My GP just says to exercese more but I
can't at work. Jane

Have you tried checking your BG when you feel tired? Could be it is too
high or too low. Perhaps you are not eating enough carbs or are eating too
many carbs. What do you mean by the 3 to 4 natural low blood sugar time of
the day? Is this something common to you? My BG is not naturally low at
this time.

I meanat that I have always experienced a tirdness betewwn 3:00 and
4:00 pm at work. We all kid around that it is a time when the
bloodsugars naturally drop for most everyone. I do not know this to be
true in actually just that a lasrge percentage of people complain about
this phenomenon. My son tells me a Professor at his college even
addressed it in his nutrition class and advised a pick me up snack or
coffee dto cope with it.Jane

Hmmm... I'd never heard that before. I wish that were the case with me, but
it isn't.

I used to call it my 3 pm coma when I was working; I'd find myself
spaced out, staring at the wall in front of my desk. Happens to me in
the winter, now, too. I think between 3-4 pm is when cortisol is lower.

I've heard it before. Usually I have a cup of tea and a small snack...piece
of cheese and a couple of crackers....it helps me get over the hump. I don't
know if it is from low sugar or maybe from lack of sleep:)

What does your meter say your BG is at this time?

What are your BGs at the time that you feel drowsy? Have you
tested then?
What type and quantity of food do you eat at those meals?
Cheers, Alan, T2, Australia.
d&e, metformin 2x500mg

Have you had your thyroid tested? An underactive one gives me those
symptoms, although they can also be diabetes-related, cholesterol-related,
and no doubt a whole lot of other things!
As for exercising at work - there's lots of web sites with at-your-desk
stretching exercises, that you can (and should) do often during the day.
