I have recently started taking Byetta. I have found that although I do
not get the main side effect (naseau), I definetly feel bloated and
tired after taking it. I am wondering if anyone has experienced this
and does this effect go away at some point?
I didn't have problems with nausea, either. It is not a large number that have severe nausea
(between the two groups), and one girl has seen enough improvement in her bg that she says her
continued nausea, which she has taken steps of dealing with, is negligible in the
overall.picture.
The *bloated* feeling is from the delayed emptying of the stomach. *THAT* is what helps so much
in the reduced appetite in addition to the signals to the brain that the body is not hungry
(forget the technical terminology at this moment). *I* welcomed that feeling; it kept almost
all thoughts of food away, giving me a satiated feeling between meals, leading me to losing
eleven pounds in a couple of months even in the wake of daily steroids. It is the *first* thing
that has ever matched and overcame the steroid hunger which is almost like the hunger
experienced during a low bg. When I had a month's lapse between changing from Byetta to Symlin,
I could not believe the hunger!!!! It was HORRIBLE!!!!! The Symlin does not have as strong a
hunger controlling effect (doesn't have the simulated "lizard spit" :-) as the Byetta, but it
does a good enough job, and I am working now to get my post prandial spikes under control.
Getting closer every day. :o)
