Gee, according to that way of thinking you should be able to eat a
large bowl of my grandma's chicken and egg noodles with dumplings
poured over a large helping of mashed potatoes along with some of her
homemade bread with butter and homemade strawberry preserves on it And
of course  you wash it all down with a 12 ounce glass of ice cold raw
whole milk.

Right?

Sounds delicious, but I sure wouldn't eat it.

As long as you bolus for it properly, what's the problem?

None at all. However, AFAIK Chuck's not using insulin. Do
you have suggestions as to what he should use for a bolus?

I'm T2.

"Diabetics and health care professionals use bolus to describe a dosage
of fast-acting insulin intended to "cover" a meal (as opposed to basal,
which is either a dose of slow-acting insulin or a continuously pumped
small quantity of fast-acting insulin, intended to "cover" the glucose
output of the liver). "

And I am sure you enjoyed it so much that you stayed away from your
meter for several hours after your dinner.

My low carbing (and consequent good numbers) seems to have sparked another
bit of neuropathy healing. It's damned sore again, but there's definitely
more feeling coming back. Last pp reading was 4.7, which I'm feeling too
grumpy to translate for you Americans :{} I feel like the mermaid princess
who swapped her tail for feet that felt like she walked on knives. Mutter. I
hope it finishes its getting-better spurt soon, before I head for the white
bread.

Good to hear it's improving, sorry about the pain. But,
actually - it's wonderful to see it's healing!

My dessert tomorrow night is a ricotta, cream and coffee mousse. It's about
3 carbs per serving. Tonight I might have a piece of halva - I don't know
its nutritional breakdown, but I do know it won't spike me. Then I'd better
stop having desserts for a few days, or the calories will catch me : )

Dave, one that does raise my numbers to above 120 at two hours, and
preferable under 110.

Nicky, my empathy for you and your foot pain.  They've been trying to reduce some of my meds for
my other illnesses, and it is exposing much of the neuropathy pain.  Really, my heart goes out
to you, and what you are experiencing right now.  :o)
