Not necessarily.
They may be in the minority, but there are T2's who never were & don't
become obese or even overweight.
(I'm not one of them. And maybe if I hadn't been so lazy & inattentive in
the years before diagnosis, I wouldn't have been either overweight or
diabetic. At least not yet.)
