% - 27 Mar 2006 00:03 GMT I just thought I'd let you all know , I'm still doing real good with my diabetes , and I owe a lot of it to this group , because by not taking any of the advice I got here , my #'s are low , I'm off nearly all meds , and even having the occasional cookie , so keep up with the advising it really helps , as long as no one takes it , and for newbies just recently diagnosed learn what you read here , then don't do any of it , and you'll manage 200 % better

Glad of your success, though.

The following information is given with the utmost respect for the armed forces and civilians who have died in the current war in Iraq. According to http://icasualties.org/oif/ The number of Americans killed in Iraq as of Mar. 25, 2006 is 2,322. Americans wounded = more than 17,000 United Kingdom = 103 Other = 105 Iraqi deaths are probably in excess of 100,000.
Today, March 26, 2006 It has been 1060 days since Bush declared, "Mission Accomplished in Iraq."

A percentage greater than 100 is a flat impossibility -- and that's 13-year old stuff, in school.
Jack S - 27 Mar 2006 08:12 GMT >You are mathematically challenged!! A percentage greater than 100 is a >flat impossibility -- and that's 13-year old stuff, in school. Hi Alan, I wondered about this, if I buy something for $5 and sell it for $20 how much profit have I made as a percentage?
or to put it another way if I told someone that I like to sell things on my market stall for four times what I pay how would I express it as a percentage? eg :- to make a profit and cover expenses I have to mark up my goods by ????? %
Serious question

I always lerned in business school that mark-up is not a percentage, but a multiplication.

I've read things like: "Since 1990, the housing costs in this area have risen by 200%".
However, you cannot give more than 100% effort to an endeavor, which is what I think started this post.
I have had discussions with people about how your 100% effort on something may be different each day, as one day, going flat out 100% you may have more to give than another, but still each day you're giving the 100% you have.

Thanks, I used the words "300%" and " 400%" last week in a conversation with someone and as I said it it just didn't sound correct.

But wait -- you posted this advice in this newsgroup, and the advice is to not follow any adive from this newsgroup, so if I follow your advice, I will be going against your advice...
Good thing I'm not a robot in a science-fiction movie, or my logic circuits would be frying just about now.

Uncle Enrico - 28 Mar 2006 17:16 GMT Some clarification is in order. Most of us here recognize that for some Type II's, diet and exercise alone are enough to achieve good numbers if carbs are strictly limited, excess weight is lost, physical activity levels are maximized and diagnoses was early not late in the progression.
There may be thousands of Type II's who can stay with a strict regimen for a long time.
Most cannot however. Even if some are strict with themselves, most will slip up over time to slowly erode their beta cells to a level where they can't maintain safe numbers.
Many here objected to your view that others could simply go off their meds if they followed your advice. Unfortunately, Type II's differ in many ways, one of which is their stage in the progression of the disease.
While you may think that your advice was offered with clarity and precision, the reaction of others would suggest otherwise.
I am glad you're having so much success.

Could have been the tone of your posts. Hard to tell now after so long. Maybe you could clarify what your position is.
