Hello all.

I'm an occasional lurker here : adult onset type 1 18 years ago. Been doing
okay with Humalog and Lantus.

Last night I forgot my lantus shot. I usually take 36 units and it works
pretty well. I forgot it only one or two other times in 18 years (including
Ultralente before the days of Lantus)

This morning my sugar was way up, 14.5 (=261). I took 5 units of Humalog and
skipped breakfast. I also took two-thirds of my usually lantus shot, and was
wondering whether to take the whole shot at bedtime tonight.

I looked all over the diabetes websites and couldn't find any information
about what to do after missing a shot.

Of course I will monitor all day.

What do you folks suggest in such a case?

Thanks

what is your normal morning reading?

Just to let you know that the strategy worked. By lunchtime I was just above
normal and the rest of the day was normal. So it worked to take two thirds
of the dose in the morning plus a bolus of humalog, and then a few extra
units of humalog at lunch. At bedtime I took the normal dose of Lantus, and
the next day I was normal again.

I wish I had had lantus for the first 17 years, since I could never balance
my sugar levels.
