this is what's been going on the past few weeks:
Sweetheart got the mother of all colds two days before we were supposed to
go to AZ.
I had to have blood work done and was found to have low sodium caused by the
Trileptal I was put on restricted fluids BEFORE the vacation. Fun when
you're going into the desert.
The day before we leave the furnace goes out.
We arrive in Phoenix and the weather is worse than what we had in Wisc. 48F
and pouring rain. It hadn't rained in over 140 days. We arrive and it
rains for two days straight.
My mother had/has sever vasculitis that caused wounds that had to have skin
grafts.
I had to get more blood work done in AZ and have the results back to doc
STAT
Had blood work done again yesterday
Sodium worse than the last time
Back on restricted fluids and have to quit the Trileptal
Had to take our 19 year old cat into the vet today. It doesn't look
promising. We'll know tomorrow AM.
The low sodium was causing extreme fatigue. Add the stress to that and it's
been a real picnic here...NOT!
Amazingly my blood sugar has been pretty good. I was told I could keep the
Trileptal if I remained on restricted fluids. Restricted fluids is 1 8oz.
measure of fluid with meals. No more. I can't live with that.
I've been lurking but not feeling much like posting.

Sorry to hear it Colleen. I hope you're feeling better soon, and I hope
all goes well with your cat. Sometimes it really is true, that it never
rains, but it pours. It's hard when a whole bunch of unpleasant things
start happening all at once, and hopefully you move into a pleasant
phase very soon. Hang in there.

Aw thanks dear. It'll all resolve soon. We've been preparing ourselves
with White Cat for awhile now. He's gone from 10lbs. down to 8 in just a
couple months. He looks quite old a frail now. I think 19 for a cat is
something like 90 in people years. Poor baby. We have an excellent vet so
I know he's in good care.

Well, Colleen, alls I can say is that it is high time you started feeling
better! When do you have to go back to Wisconsin? I sure hope you get a few
days of relaxation in and can get straightened out before then.:-)

Omigoodness Colleen! You have certainly had a run of rotten luck.
Hope things get better from here on in.
Today I took hubby to the hospital and he had his kidney stones blasted with
a laser. He is most uncomfortable just now :-(
Health stuff really sucks, doesn't it?
May tomorrow be a better day :-)

I've been on the Trileptal for about 4 years now. I use it for bipolar.
It's a record for how long a med has remained effective for me. Yes, health
things can be a real joy!

Wow....sounds like things have horrible. I'm sorry your cat is ill :(
Pets are family too.
Did I read that restriction correctly? ONE POINT EIGHT fluid ounces?
That's barely enough to take the Trileptal, let alone satisfy your
natural quest for fluid. Is there an alternative to the Trileptal? I
sure know I couldn't manage on that restriction.
I hope you are feeling better very soon.

It's 8 oz total fluid with meals. That means if I have some milk on my
cereal it counts toward to total fluid. Right now I'm sucking on ice cubes
when the thrist gets bad. That's what I did the first time and it helped.
I also developed a taste for double espressos. Lotsa caffeine and little
fluid!

Well, I'm relieved to see that I misread your post. But a total of
24 ounces of fluid a day -- to include what you prep with...wow. Of
course, I consume a LOT of fluid every day. I can polish off a 32
ounce thing of water on a twenty minute car ride.
I hope this rights itself real soon.

I'm on 3 psych meds and 2 diabetes meds. I'm thristy all the time. 32oz.
of water is easy to do. In fact, right now it sounds really really nice.

Bloody heck. When it rains for you, it certainly pours! In
more ways than one.
Best wishes - I hope that means the rest of the year will be
somewhat better.

Just a lot happening at once. It's 5:30 am here. I've already been up for
an hour. Partly because my mouth was so dry and partly because that's when
the cat would usually come into the room. We should know more about the cat
after 8 this am and I'll be hearing from my NP about the med thing later
today.
When it rains it pours! Wait! That means salt. Salt makes thirsty. Don't
want thisrty. How 'bout, *hit happens!

Wow! Sorry about all the problems. Mine friend was on restricted fluids
because of dialysis. What she finally resorted to doing was having a few
sips of actual fluids with meals and then sucking on ice throughout the day.
She had very small cubes and had to ration them at that.

I'm not having fun right now. That's for sure. We'll be going to vet in a
little while to probably say our last good-bye to white cat. Then I have to
get hold of my psychiatric NP to see where we head with the Trileptal.
