Hi theoldman1943
If by "sugar level" you mean "whole blood glucose level"; for a non diabetic
("normal") person, it normally lies between 4.0 and 7.8 mmol/L (UK units) or
70 to 140 mg/dL (US units).
The lower end of the range is usually seen first thing in the morning
(fasting bg) or before a meal, the higher end seen soon after eating a meal
and dropping to mid range by 2hrs after eating.
A diabetic person would try to control their bg to within these values by
appropriate medication and diet control.
This is a simplified answer to your question. Is there anything behind the
question? If you suspect you are diabetic, see your GP and ask for a glucose
tolerance test.
If you have the misfortune to join this unexclusive club, post in and admit
to being a newbie. Advice (some more useful than others) will come flooding
in.

Clinically, anything below 4mmol/l (multiply by 18 if you're a yank)
, what is high sugar level
Anything above 8 mmol/l
and what is normal ?
Somewhere in between. Typically, 5mmol/l

Some Meter's readings , differs if it measure the BG level in whole blood.
Difference is between 10 - 15 % than that if BG measured in Blood plasms.
This's very important while you are evaluating your BG.

All meters currently being sold in the U.S., at least, are plasma
calibrated. This has been true for the past three years or so.
So it is only an issue with older meters, like the 9 year old one our
town nurse uses for free blood sugar or the antique my doctor's office uses.

I usually control My BG levels as follows:
Fasting .... less than 110 mg
Two hours after meal .... less than 6.5 mmol
Between meals should be as fasting.
All related to BG levels as in blood plasma.

To me low sugar is generally under 65-70 because I then get symptoms
Normal sugar levels for me is anywhere from 70 to 115
High levels for me are anything over 120 at two hours post prandial, but
not fanatic. If I see 160 I freak out
