I see your guys down under have your own version of Katrina on its way. I
hope Larry don't pay you a visit. Good luck...

Thanks Anon.
See my answers in the other thread - I'm a long way away.
Cyclone Larry has destroyed most of Innisfail, damaged the
area from Cairns to Townsville, hit 290km(180mph) at peak,
and is still cat 4 inland on the Atheerton Tablelands.
So far, mainly because of excellent pre-warnings and action,
no reported casualties; although there are fears for some
patients in the Cairns hospital (severely damaged) and a lot
of information gaps with power out and lines cut.
The military are already being mobilised, State and Federal
aid is on the way.
Cheers, Alan, T2, Australia.

I just watched a report about Larry on CNN. I'm so happy to hear you
are a long ways from its path. It seems like there are more severe
storms these days or maybe they just get more media coverage.
Does any ASD members live near the storm path?

I am not aware of any. Alan is the closest and will get
plenty of rain. Sometimes the rain extends further south and
I get it near Sydney but it's not always the rule. Larry was
equal in ferocity to Cyclone Tracey that destroyed Darwin.
