The following information is given with the utmost respect for the armed forces and civilians who have died in the current war in Iraq. According to http://icasualties.org/oif/ The number of Americans killed in Iraq as of Mar. 15, 2006 is 2,314. Americans wounded = 16,653 as of 02/07/2006 United Kingdom = 103 Other = 103 Iraqi deaths in excess of 30,000 - probably many more.
Today, March 16, 2006 It has been 1050 days since Bush declared, "Mission Accomplished in Iraq."

I can only eat about .5 oz at a time though. It'll put hair on your elbows.

I rarely eat chocolate at all but I do have an egg at Easter.

It's a bit difficult to gnaw on, too. I resorted to it when I was on a low iodine diet (prep for thyca treatment) & hadn't yet found a lid-suitable chocolate. It does beat *no* chocolate. bj

You can do it, but I'm told you need two kinds of artificial sweetener - one that's a foretaste and one that's an aftertaste. Apparently, only actual sugar has both.
Just don't ask me which sweetener is which.

I don't have a double boiler. I do that mixed with silken tofu for a wonderful mousse. If you add a little vanilla it is even better. Just mix everything together in food processor, about 12-16 oz silken tofu-5-7 oz melted unsweetened chocolate (or oz =about 1 C of cocoa powder) Splenda or aspertame to taste and chill. simeply wonderful, particularly with fresh rasberries.

bj - 19 Mar 2006 22:05 GMT > Hmmm... Splenda is supposed to be useful for baking, so if we melt > some unsweetened Baker's Chocolate, add some Splenda, mix and cool... > Do you think it might work? I don't have a double boiler. I tried that. I made 1 or 2 squares at a time. I used the microwave to melt the chocolate, then added sweetener (& I won't swear I used, or used only, Splenda). I also found it came out a tad better if I also stirred in a tiny drop of olive oil per square -- not too much, though, or it gets too soft -- not that that makes it inedible, you just need a spoon.
I quit experimenting when I found bar chocolate suitable for the low iodine diet that had driven me to the baking chocolate in the first place. When not on LID (which I do only for about 2 weeks, & now not even every year), I eat regular chocolate candy (just not a lot of it). bj
Jennifer - 19 Mar 2006 22:46 GMT This is a recipe that was floating around the low carb newsgroup for awhile.
I can't vouch for it, but others found it worked.
Chocolate Nut Clusters
1/2 oz unsweetened baking chocolate 1/4 cup walnuts -- (or pecans or Almonds) 1 tablespoon butter 2 packages artificial sweetener 2 cupcake papers
Melt chocolate in microwave til melted, add butter and stir til melted and smooth then the Equal. mix in the nuts and coat all of the nuts. divide into the 2 papers and put into the freezer for 15 minutes til set eat and enjoy variation I add a tablespoon of cream after stirring the butter in and is cooled a little for a like milk chocolate taste. total carbs vary to nut choice

To keep that nasty guilt thing away just don't test for at least four hours after the peeps.
OTOH, if you can't do these things without feeling guilty, don't even bother. It ain't worth the angst.
