Thank you for reading the posting.

I took lipitor 10 mg for couple years and lowered total cholesterol by
100 points. I started lipitor 20 mg and after 8 days of taking the
medicine I started having itching on my leg every evening after coming
home from work. I stopped taking the medicine and after three days the
itching stopped. At this point I did blood test - total cholesterol,
triglycerides, LDL, VLDL went up by 19, 53, 10, 11 respectively,
compared to what I had 2 months back.  I started crestor 10 mg and
after three days of taking the medicine the itching started.

I am wondering - did I develop some allergy with lipitor medicine?
Did my cholesterol get worsened due to adverse allergic reactions?

I appreciate any insights!

I got hives from higher (60-80mg) doses of Zocor (a similar medication).
I've switched to Vytorin (which has lower amounts of statins) and haven't
had any problems. My cholesterol is down into the normal range after 8
months of improved diet and low dosages statins.

Allergy to statins is one of the known complications. Talk with your doctor.
