Wondering if anyone in this newsgroup has tried the antidepressant Cymbalta
for peripheral neuropathy?  I've had problems in left foot and leg for a
year or more but since my blood sugar is kept under control with diet and I
also have MS and a lower back ailment, I wasn't really sure what the pain
was related to.  There was also considerable swelling in my left foot and
ankle.  Even the calf of my left leg at times.  Went for my annual endo
visit about 19 days ago and she gave me enough Cymbalta to know if it was
going to help with the pain by the time I saw my neuro the next week.  I
FEEL 85% BETTER!   The burning and pain in my left leg and foot are soooooo
much better.  The swelling is greatly reduced.  My fatigue is MUCHO better
(fatigue is mostly due to the MS) and my mental outlook is improved.  I've
been on Zoloft for a few years but didn't feel like it was really helping as
of the last year or longer.  She said I could come off it and straight to
the Cymbalta.  I was better in one day.  She said it was faster acting than
most antidepressants.  My neuro agreed about not having to taper off the
Zoloft or titrate up to the Cymbalta.   Instead of leaving the house just
once in the last 7 days, I've only stayed home once in the last 7 days <lol>
Is the peripheral neuropathy diabetes or MS...I don't know.  I just know
I'm, for the most part, out of pain!  I've had no ill side effects.  What
can/will it do long term?  I don't know and it's something I'm concerned
about but life without it wasn't much of a life.

Wow! Sounds like it's doing the job for you, Monica! That's great!

Nicky.
