I have noticed recently with my numbers being so far out of
whack, that I am having to change what I am eating. My current
carbs per day is 100 g. I am finding that things I have always
eaten with good effects are now causing me to go high. I can no
longer eat 3/4 cup plain Cherrios with 1/4 cup fat-free milk for
breakfast. So as of tomorrow I will be starting on eggs again in
the morning. I found a recipe for Turkey breakfast sausage that I
am going to make for me to eat with the eggs. Now the only thing
to find is some bread I can eat with it as well. All the low carb
bread I have tried still raises me too high, even the Sara Lee
Delightfully one does. I did buy some of the Cinnamon pills
yesterday, says to take 2 per day (500mg each), was wondering if
I should take it once or twice a day. Adding more veggies and
less potatoes and brown rice(yuck) I am Puerto Rican and I love
white rice, but can't eat it at all now. Already eat lots of lean
meats (beef, chicken, turkey, and pork)

Mopar, are you on any medication.  What have your numbers been running.
Diabetes is a progressive disease.  You seem to know how to make it less
progressive.

I take 2000mg Glucophage a day along with Liptor 20mg 3 days a
week and Enalapril 20mg (blood pressure) everyday. Plus I do 30
minutes on the treadmill every day.

Suzi...

I don't know where you live, but if you're in a place that carries the
Orowheat brand... their 100% Whole Wheat Light (NOT their low carb
bread), has 5.5g of carbs per slice after you subtract the fiber.

And it tastes good, and is made of whole grains.

I think that I have seen it. And will try it. My son and husband
love wheat bread, I do not like the taste of it but will eat it,
and actually the smell makes me feel nauseous. After I have eaten
the Sara Lee Delightfully for a few weeks, both white and wheat I
get that way as well, I can't even open the bag without feeling
that way.

That was my opinion of it as well.  Smelled horrible.  But I couldn't stand
the taste and had to throw it in the trash.

This is pretty much what happened to me.  I ate more cheese and eggs and my
numbers only got worse.  Turns out I am allergic to cheese and eggs!  I
stopped eating those and my numbers got better.  Could be that you also need
more meds. The most effective dose of glucophage is 1500 mg daily.

Hi Mopar Girl,

I have trouble eating carbs in the morning too, and I sure miss dense
chewy whole wheat bread.  I do okay with the Sara Lee Delightful
although it's almost tasteless (I can stand the taste if it's toasted
to the almost burnt stage.)  However, one thing I'm planning to try is
fried califlower patties.  Pretty much tastes like potato to me, and
you can spice it however you like it and add chopped up onion, peppers,
etc.  Fried in a little EVOO, it's very tasty and I think it would make
a good substitute for the carby taste I crave in the morning.
