Shills for you know who

Hello group,

In case no one has noticed it, there seem to be some servile minions
and shills for "you know who" who are going back into some old threads
from weeks ago and appending numerous posts that refer back to drivel
that the "heart doc" has posted either here, or in other groups....
Indeed they  may be the sick one, himself, using false identities to
get around the KF.

I cannot imagine why that sick individual would sponsor such activity,
unless he wants to contaminate the archives with his religious
nonsense and prattle. It strikes me a bilt like what happens when
pigeons and other birds get into a stately mansion that has been
unoccupied for a while.

Just thought some of you would like to know, if you have not
noticed....

shills is very on topic here.  diabetic are easy targets

The method of asking about a product and a reply
saying it is great. The internet is a jungle.

Thanks, Guy

It is always a pleasure to hear from you. I hope you are doing well these
days. Where do you live, by the way? Any Spring weather for you yet? Today
it is supposed to reach 70 deg. F here in Virginia Beach. It is about time!

Have a good one. :-)

Well, Alan, from your post, I hope you did not mean you were adding me to
your kf's, because I have always enjoyed our exchanges. :-)

At any rate, what I have noticed is that there is a strategy afoot that
seems pernicious in its end result.... And it is almost invisible, unless
someone is alert to it. I noticed it when I went back weeks to check for
some old posts and saw a strings of large numbers of wierd posts in some
threads that have gone on for days, when the thread was otherwise apparently
dead. And the strings of new posts, always by the same one or two posters,
have reproduced extensively the same repeated nonsense. I see this as
pernicious, because anyone wanting to do a legitimate search into a real
topic by an honest and sincere member of this group will get a lot of
tagalong, piggyback irrelevant material...

I suspect that the occasional odd fleeting glimpse you have seen is part of
what I am talking about.

Hi Gary,

What is a sock puppet? I am still relatively new to usenet, and while I have
heard of the term, I am not exactly sure what it means. Does it refer to
some sort of automatic program or robot that simply posts to a large number
of newsgroups, almost as by random process, attaching itself to whatever
thread presents itself according to the parameters written into the program?

Thanks,

That's OK Gary... I just looked it up for myself.... You are probably right
about the sock puppets.

Some folks have more personalities than Bridey Murphy....

(Now, _that_ dates me!)

Yes, I should say it does.... On the other hand, I think they aired a show
about her on the History Channel a while back. If you are like me, you
sometimes enjoy the History Channel over many of the other current offerings
on the networks.

actor, talker to Lamb Chop the sock puppet.  what do you have? 1
person talking to themselves using 2 identities, 1 real, 1 fake.  In
you know who's case that can be 1 semi-real and 5 or 6 fake identities
but all the same person.

Hi Mack,

Thanks for the response. I sorta figured that out for myself, after I made
the post. I just was not familiar with the term, right off.  And, it seems
like a number of them have been set up as straw men in a kind of reverse
trolling scheme, focusing upon old and dead threads just as much as upon the
current threads. I could name names, but it may be wiser not to do so.... Of
course, if you really want to know who I mean, I will be happy to tell you
in an email. As you say, I have identified at least 4, maybe 5, or 6.

No Will. But be aware that some, like me, get tired of the
people who respond to the twits and do sometimes auto-kf
without reading in depth. Our loss, I know - but it's a risk
we take.

There are certain names - you're learning some of them -
that are an instant kf for me each time they re-appear under
a different guise, or if someone is silly enough to repeat
their nonsense. Also, I tend to hit "ignore" or kf for
anything x-posted from sci.med.cardiology or any of the
"fat" ngs.

Just occasionally I'll respond, but I generally don't see my
own response because I cut our groups from the response.

I wouldn't be concerned about the threads you're worried
about. Just do what I do.

Cheers, Alan, T2, Australia.
