Avandia & Blurred vision

I've been on Avandia for 4 months.  I've gained 6 pounds. Last month
had two episodes of blurred vision in the early morning which went
away quickly.  I had a complete eye exam done today and everything is
perfect.  Eye Doctor says this could be a one time thing, maybe a side
effect of a drug but no definitive answer.  Could this be Avandia?
Any imput would be appreciated.  I see my regular doctor in April.
A1C in January was 6.4  down from 6.9.
Thanks,

Macular Edema has been reported as a possible side effect of Avandia

One of the symptoms of Macular Edema is blurred vision.

This might be worth a phone call to the doc right now.    It would be if it
was happening to me.

I considered that so I had a very extensive eye exam (dialated) today.
They're fine ... I just wonder if that can happen for a moment and go
back to normal 15 minutes later !

Really, if I experienced the same symptoms, I would contact my GP
immediately. Why? Blurred vision can be a sign of a neurological event.
Your eye exam may be fine, but your eye doctor is not qualified to
assess your overall health; call your regular doctor right away.

I am on Actos and also have had some occasional episodes of blurred vision.
Had an opthalmologist examine my eyes, and nothing was wrong.   It hasn't
happened in a while now, but it did in the past.

Is your "eye doctor" an M.D. Ophthalmologist or an optometrist? There's
a huge difference between the two in terms of training. Though I have
met very competent optometrists, their training lies in prescribing
glasses and though they do a dilated eye exam they can miss things a
specialist would see.

If you did not see an M.D. you need to make an appointment with one
right away to make sure that you don't have the retinal edema that is a
known side effect of Avandia. Left untreated it can make you blind!

which is the mistake I made for many years.  Trusting the advice of
the WRONG medical people.  I saw several optometrist over the years
and all told me my eyes were fine and that I simply needed glasses.
When I finally went in to see an ophthalmologist I was told the damage
was developing over a period of many years and my vision loss could
have been slowed or even prevented if caught in time and properly
treated.

I was pleasantly surprised when my optometrist did a very
thorough inspection for retinopathy, macular degeneration
and glaucoma a few days ago when I went in to up-date my
prescription. No bad news.

However, I'll still see the ophthalmologist for my
two-yearly check later this year.

Actually the eye doctor is an MD and eye surgeon.  This time we did a
full eye scan, a new technique that does a baseline exam via pictures
of the entire inside of your eye.  My eyes are very healthy. If the
blurred vision happens again I will see my regular Dr., otherwise I'll
see him in early April.
Thanks for the comments
