Could someone please remind me why I tried to consume some of this
stuff? It would have to be about the worst-tasting thing I have ever
had in my mouth. I remember the old adage about medicine only being
good for you if it tastes bad, but I am not sure that the gain is
worth the pain.

Suggestions to mix it with cod liver oil will be deleted from my
computer as soon as the retching stops.

I have no clue.  This is one thing I've never ever been tempted to eat.  I
know people who put it on popcorn.  Every time I hear of this I wonder why
they would ruin a perfectly good food like that!

Lol, come on it's not that bad as long as you mix it with
nice tasting stuff ;) Make a nice smoothie like I do ;)
Strawberries weren't nice this week so I used a bit of mango
in mine this morning, delish!

When my son had eye surgery,  nutrition and pain management became a very
complicated subject.     The morphine made him too nauseous to eat.   Not a
big thing during the first few days,  but not a good thing during the next
few weeks,  most especially with a recovering  eye surgery patient.

We finally settled on a routine that included:  take morphine,  fast for
two hours,  suffer dry heaves,  then take a meal consisting of a home made
chocolate malt doped with raw egg,  brewers yeast and powdered "instant diet
meal".    Went down OK.

As I  understand it all of these items affect th flora of the
intestine.   Anyone have any comment of this type
of product?  Are they of any real value?

I have no idea!!! My brother and sister-in -law used to eat this in hot
cereal.  they not only thouhgt it had nutritional advntages, but they
actually LIKED the flavor.  Tehy tried to get me to eat it when I visited,
but only once:-)  I loved them and enjoyed visiting and eatign with them,
but not their hot cereal.

Hmmmm.. Thanks, Wendy, I'd have never thought of it for breakfast.
That sounds good! I think I'll try some tomorrow on my standard
breakfast. Recipe below for anyone who wants to try it...

3 oz frozen chopped spinach
6 oz frozen mixed low-carb vegetables
3 oz extra-firm tofu
4 heaped tablespoons ground golden flax
1 tablespoon walnut or extra virgin olive oil
3 tablespoons dijon mustard
1 tablespoon tobasco sauce
black pepper and tumeric to taste. Herbs can be used for variety too.

Microwave the frozen veg in a glass soup bowl. Don't drain. I vary the
veg for variety, and often add multi-colored peppers. I do make sure
there is plenty of broccoli in the mix.

Once cooked, add the tofu (I prefer extra firm, and I crumble it, not
cube it) and heat a bit more to warm the tofu. Then, add the flax, and
stir. Then add the oil, and stir again, and finally add the mustard,
black pepper, and tumeric (and any herbs) and stir again. Then drizzle
the tobasco on top and it's ready.
