Avandia availability

I got some bad news today. The pharmacy where I pick up my
medications said that Avandia was not available from their usual
suppliers and that the manufacturer was not making it.

Anyone else out there have any news about the availability of
Avandia? I remember the news article someone posted here
some days ago.

Just ordered mine( 2mg) thru caremark in texas and no problem yet!!

Caremark ran out of it last fall and I had to go to a local drug store to
get it. I'm not sure how they are doing with their supply now because I
changed insurance plans and no longer use them.

I think you 'might" mean Avandamet (Combo Drug)
I have been on Avandia a couple of years now and Caremark is and was my ONLY
supplier. just ordered 180 Tabs this AM of Avandia.

It was Avandamet that has the availability issue. That's the combination
of Avandia and Metformin.

Call another pharmacy, and see what they tell you. I think yours might
have been confused.

Avandamet is the one with the problem. You can not get it
in the US.
GSK is looking for plant to buy in the US were they can make
the drug.
They have given up on the plant in Puerto Rico which seems
to be unable to produce the drug.
