Did I set a record?

Been poking my fingers for about 20+ years now.  Have anyone of you
squeezed your finger to get a drop of blood and find that you have blood
oozing simultaneously out of FIVE spots?  I've gotten the occasional 2
or 3 hole leaker, but I think five is my record.  A CGMS or
non-invasive, affordable, accurate bg meter can't come too soon.  Not to
mention the end of getting drops of blood on our bed sheets, quilts,
pillowcases, carpet, upholstery, my clothes...

Ever squeezed your finger after lancing it and getting sprayed in the
face with a tiny, but forceful stream of blood? DAMHIKT

My grammar fails me while typing.  change "getting" to "gotten".  that
reads "more better" :)

I hear you, I squeezed my finger the other day to get a big enough drop
going and it squirted out and hit me in the forehead .

I looked Hindu until I wiped it off.

oh, I just remembered...I've even sprayed the ceiling of my car.  It
blended in with the burgandy interior... :)

Your grammar STILL fails you. It's SHOULD be "been" :-))

As for me, plenty of times I've been sprayed, but never have I managed a 5
hole leak, although I've managed more than a few tests without the need to
use a lancet. Just squeeze and up pops a nice test sized blob  :-)

You don't like "gotten"? :)

ah, the things we DM's go through on a daily basis, huh?  At least we
get to mess around with more gadgets than the healthy! (esp. if we are
pumpers)

It's a lazy American term used only in the world series:-) A real English
speaker would NEVER use it, and if fact a real English speaker wouldn't use
the word "got" either (in print). It's an "spoken only" word and its ALWAYS
possible to use another more acceptable word.

I used to do that on purpose when I was first diagnosed, to annoy/gross out
my brother.  He had a hard time dealing with my checking my BG and doing
injections so I tried to make him as uncomfortable as possible.  That only
happened when I used to use the tips/pads of my fingers.  Now I use the
sides exclusively, and sometimes I wish I could get a gusher again.  Even
with the small sample amounts needed, I sometimes have a hard time getting a
big enough drop.

when I first started testing I had the same problem.
I found the more active I became the easier the blood came out.

Did you read my thread on: RE: BG meters that don't require lancing at
finger? I had blood leaking from everywhere. 2 fingers, 2 palms, 2 thigh's &
1 belly.  I had to call in a HazMat team.  lol

I JUST read it.  did you use the alternative site testing lancet cap and
then press really hard after poking yourself?  that's the instruction
that is recommended by the meter mfgrs. I tried it with the clear cap
and holding, holding, holding, and eventually I got a minuscule amount
of blood from my forearm.  It's way more trouble than it's worth.  I'll
"stick" to perforating my fingertips. :)

I had my lancing device set to the highest setting and nothing, al least not
enough for a sample.
I'll stick to my fingers too. I was just courious how the different parts of
the body may or may not change my meter readings.
I may still try with a manual lance.

I didn't get sprayed in the face, but I've gotten gushers a few times.

No...haven't gotten multiple bleeds from one poke.

I meant that 4 previous holes oozed when I did the most recent finger
stick, so the fresh hole PLUS 4 earlier holes all produced small drops
of blood.  Guess I didn't rotate fingers enough for my 18+
fingersticks/day.  can't wait for a CGMS!

Hi Dave,

Maybe you ought to take up finger painting!  <grin>

Or change fingers for a while... :-)
